Sooners dedication to this board, even during holidays when he should be spending time with family, just shows how much he loves the church and wants it to change. Don't listen to these people Sooner. I look forward to your next big thread which should come around dinner time on thanksgiving."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I couldn't tell you what I was doing when I made all 29k posts. But I can tell you what I wasn't doing last night: sitting around on a holiday thinking about a silly quote from a religious leader that belongs to a group in which I no longer participate. Seems strange you couldn't find something better to do.Originally posted by SoonerCoug View PostYou have got to be F-ing kidding me. You have almost 29,000 posts and are telling me to get a life? Remind me what you do in your life that gives you time for 29,000 posts. So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

The part about all of his book learning having no impact on his church service is obviously a silly thing to say, especially for a group of people who love quoting CS Lewis so much. I did notice that you left a nice gap in between quotes. Was there anything else he said afterward to provide context for such a ridiculously easy thing to dispute? I'm interested in knowing but not interested enough in looking myself. Someone else will provide the full quote and my guess is that The Bed will be vindicated, at least somewhat.Fitter. Happier. Alas, when I googled this quote, I only came up with an ex mormon reddit thread and this one. Someone more motivated than I will have to take up the challenge."...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Do you think it's possible for you to post without using words like "hilarious," "absurd," "canard," and "truther"? Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."

I tried to vindicate The Bed but gave up after the only relevant link to come up was the exmo subreddit post from yesterday that was almost verbatim with Sooner's post. That maxed out my interest so I'll leave it to others to find the context.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostThe part about all of his book learning having no impact on his church service is obviously a silly thing to say, especially for a group of people who love quoting CS Lewis so much. It's from a talk given at BYU-Idaho. I'm working on getting the full text for more context.

So is this quote going to end up like Pres Monson's dementia....where if you say it enough eventually people will believe it?"Discipleship is not a spectator sport.
