Actually (and I know you don't really care, but I'll talk anyway), it was the announcement of the councils that pissed me off. Watching the resulting clusterf*** unfold has been gratifying, as I've seen a lot of people whom I had no idea cared about this speak out. Maybe I take a little too much pleasure, but to a good end? This could catalyze (hopefully) some change.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI guess i think it is more fun to listen to music than to listen to press conferences, especially since a lot of this subject matter seems to rile you folks up a bit. Music makes me feel good. Judging by some of the responses I have read, many of these podcasts or interviews frustrate some of you. I just don't get it, but that is my problem, not yours or ERs. podcast on.At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

Just listened to Uchtdorf's Oct 2013 talk "Come, Join with Us" again. This should be regular required listening for you folks. "Regular" as in "every day."

wuap, I wish you the best on your sons baptism. Baptisms have always been my favorite LDS meeting. Simple and beautiful commitment to follow Christ."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Apparently, the problem is when those members ask others about those serious or sensitive questions instead of just wrestling privately with them. Some might ask, “But what about my doubts?”
It’s natural to have questions—the acorn of honest inquiry has often sprouted and matured into a great oak of understanding. There are few members of the Church who, at one time or another, have not wrestled with serious or sensitive questions. One of the purposes of the Church is to nurture and cultivate the seed of faith—even in the sometimes sandy soil of doubt and uncertainty. Faith is to hope for things which are not seen but which are true"I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

I haven't followed this all that closely, to be honest, but I don't think it is the asking questions that is a problem. I think it is a bigger issue when someone comes to the conclusion that they know the answer and that they now need to convince the prophet/apostles that they are right.Originally posted by Pelado View Post....Apparently, the problem is when those members ask others about those serious or sensitive questions instead of just wrestling privately with them.

Honest question. Do you think that Kate Kelly was merely asking other about serious or sensitive questions?Originally posted by Pelado View PostIt's a pretty good talk.

Really? It's true I have not followed it and listened to podcasts. I have seen a couple of things like the e NY Times saying:Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostWhat are you talking about? Pretty clear you haven't followed this whole thing very closely.
Two Mormons who have gained national attention for pushing their church to ordain women to the priesthood and to accept openly gay members have been notified this week that they face excommunication for apostasy.Wrong. It's Mormon 101. You try to push the church by public protests and you get exed. You have been hanging out in the podcast crowd too long if that seems murky.Again, a mischaracterization. One can believe that God is running the show and that he works through human beings and an earthly organization that are not perfect.
I disagree. I think your calling it silly BS is BS. So there. This is just silly BS. Nobody is trying to burn the building down.

You can disagree with the tactics, but if you think their objective is to burn the church down, I would say you are being grossly unfair.Originally posted by Vic Vega View PostReally? Tex is focusing on the negative. This is what he wants everyone here to remember every single day:Originally posted by Pheidippides View PostTex doesn't have doubts, so he doesn't need it.
Sorry, Tex, Im going to pass on your challenge. You can continue to dwell in the muck, I'm moving on.And, to be perfectly frank, there have been times when members or leaders in the Church have simply made mistakes. There may have been things said or done that were not in harmony with our values, principles, or doctrine.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.
