If you weren't so preoccupied with watching porn you might know that taking a woman's words on their face without considering the underlying meaning is never a wise thing to do.

I was thinking that the least likely person here to have a porn habit would be 3D. But maybe he runs two screens at once, that's what's really going on with him. Gross!

I did not post to address marital intimacy. I posted to address why men and women respond to their partner's interest in porn differently. You're mistaking a part for a whole.

Now, unlike you, I feel the need to defend neither my marriage nor my posts. Therefore I bid you goodnight.
LOL! This is one of those moments when my desire to be understood can lead to no good end. Goodnight Babs!

Flash's and my intimacy has a freedom and joy that's afforded by the fact that he's successfully convinced me that I'm the most beautiful creature in the world and the only one he wants to be with. If I found him looking at other women -- whether in porn or anywhere else -- that belief would be shattered. I would know that there's a need or desire remaining unmet. I would know that he hadn't been honest with me about it. I would doubt myself, and I would pull back to protect myself.

It's not the porn, exactly. It's what the decision to seek out porn represents. I don't know that what I describe above is representative of women in general, but I imagine that it's probably pretty close.

Interesting post. Thanks for the point of view.

BTW, even though my wife has a male OB, she and I just aren't down with her ever seeing a male gynecologist. I don't think I'm the only one that feels like this. I can just imagine that young, unmarried women in Utah probably also want a female gynecologist. I'm guessing that the bishop probably had an older clientele and that would be an exceedingly unpleasant job.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I think lower GI specialists (often called proctologists) have it worse.

I think most women are indifferent to gender for their OB/GYN. I'd be interested in seeing some studies. I don't really care, but I just don't understand why you'd want a doctor who specializes in an organ that he/she doesn't have. I'll never see a female urologist for example (I understand that the field encompasses women too, but still).

Since there's so few "Ass Men" out there, I'd have to think they'd make more money than gynecologists. Checking out butts all day would only be moderately worse than dealing with a bunch of 60+ year old women's vaginas. Holy hell that would suck.

A good buddy of mine is an OB/GYN in Orange County. He tells me his practice has changed radically in the last 10 years because so many women these days want a female GYN. He sees the same trend in OB, but is less pronounced, he says.

I have nothing to base this on, but sexually active younger women probably don't care. Uptight non-sexually active younger women in Utah County probably do care quite a bit. When you're dealing with the OB aspect, then you place a little more emphasis on finding the best person for the job.

But, as time goes by, I think we care less and less. After going through childbirth and the total lack of dignity and privacy it involves, a lot of the walls have come down.

Nope. Hard to quantify why exactly, but having gone to both I prefer the men. Maybe a less superior and more academic tone when I ask questions.

There are all kinds of professionals. If you were captain and picking teams for a basketball game and had your choice between an NBA player and a WNBA player who'd you pick?
