    OK.

Where is the thread on Mormonism and racism? Maybe that's where I should have posted.

EDIT: I think Cliven deserves his own thread, but the powers that be clearly disagree. Is this some sort of damage control?
I don't think I mentioned you. You asked a question about what will happen to him and I answered.

How does this tie in with calling your post a rant? After all, you have no history of ranting and raving about the mormon church.

I'm not saying that Mormonism deserves the blame. I'm saying that Mormonism hasn't helped when it could have.

As I see it, Mormonism is too busy waging its war on pornography and gays to help people like Cliven know what racism really is.

If Brother Bundy didn't learn racism in the Church, he certainly didn't UNLEARN it, especially considering the traditional Mormon thought process: "I don't hate black people. I'm not racist. I just think God didn't want them to have the priesthood for some unknown reason."

Imagine if we had a church that was good enough to apologize for its own racist past rather than spending so much of its general conference time on nonsense.

        Will Cliven be disfellowshipped? Excommunicated?
Was Mark E. Petersen disfellowshipped or excommunicated or even not allowed to continue as a GA? Of course, Petersen was living in the 1950s but so is Cliven "in his heart". And if you knew what was in Cliven heart you would agree that he would let everyone drive a cadillac as well as long as they don't drive it on "his" ranch.

        • Bundy doubles down on race. Claims that if people are offended by his comments, it means MLK didn't do his job.

In response, Bundy said King wouldn't have wanted the media to demonize him over those remarks and invoked the example of Rosa Parks to show he supported civil rights.

"Maybe I sinned and maybe I need to ask forgiveness … but you know when you talk about prejudice, we're talking about not being able to exercise what we think and are feeling," Bundy eventually conceded.

"If I say 'negro' or 'black boy' or 'slave,' I'm not -- if those people cannot take those kind of words and not be offensive (sic) then Martin Luther King hasn't got his job done yet," he added.

What is sad is he thinks he is walking his comments back and or apologizing, but he is only making it worse.

I have to wonder how Cliven lost in federal court representing himself.

He is the democrats and liberal media's dream come true. Someone said, the liberal media should send hordes of reporters out there to get quotes from him and tie him to the republican party. Much like someone on this board equated him to "real" mormons.

So have the fox news vans left the Bundy ranch for good?

                    • I still have a couple of FB friends who are claiming that his words are taken out of context. They linked to some crazy showing how the video of him ranting was edited for the 'liberal media'. He still says the same crazy, but no matter! The edited version doesn't include him being conciliatory towards Mexicans.

                          • The Obama Administration should have studied the previous Administration's tactics WRT to solving this Bundy mess. The same sort of thing happened back in 2007 and some U.S. marshals just posing as supporters walked right in to the tax evaders' home and arrested them...

U.S. marshals posing as supporters carried out the arrests of tax evaders Ed and Elaine Brown, officials said Friday.

The undercover officers were invited in by the Browns on Thursday evening, and before the couple realized they weren't supporters, they were already under arrest.

"Ultimately, this open-door policy that they seemed to have, which allowed the Browns to have some supporters bring them supplies, welcome followers and even host a picnic -- this proved to be their undoing," U.S. Marshal Stephen Monier said. "They invited us in. We escorted them out."

The Browns have been in a standoff with authorities since their sentencing in April on tax evasion charges. They insisted that there's no law forcing them to pay taxes and refused to surrender -- saying they would not come out alive.

That would be pretty smart of Obama. If there was a shootout they could ramp up the gun control talk, tell Americans if they elect republicans they will get a Congress full of Bundy types and Harry Reid can claim to be right all along calling them terrorists.

Besides that no one would be talking about Obamacare for months maybe years.
