This is what happens when they build on an Indian burial ground. I think all the white men (and women) need to evacuate the entire Heber valley to reverse the curse.

Heather Armstrong, the breakout star behind the website Dooce, who was hailed as the queen of the so-called mommy bloggers for giving millions of readers intimate daily glimpses of her odyssey through parenthood and marriage, as well as her harrowing struggles with depression, died on Tuesday at her home in Salt Lake City. She was 47.

Pete Ashdown, her longtime partner, who found her body in the home, said the cause was suicide.

That was a bit of a kind riposte from Jemaine. Good for him.

                    • CIA experiments, Mormon ravers and reformed racists: the untold history of MDMA

                      https://www.theguardian.com/science/...-ecstacy-molly

It wasn’t all club kids using the drug. Nuwer’s book charts a few unlikely subcultures that used MDMA, starting with the Mormons. Even though the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints prohibits its members from drinking alcohol, a Mormon doctoral student told the drug activist Rick Doblin in 2003 that he’d personally taken MDMA more than 1,000 times. As he put it, molly was a common substance used by his friends in the faith.

“They were these Mormon kids who were otherwise straight-edgers going out to raves and partying all night,” Nuwer said. “I think they were doing some mental gymnastics to get around the rules, thinking it was fine to just try MDMA if they weren’t drinking.”

These Mormons became a key control group for MDMA researchers, Nuwer explains, as they could study the effects of the drug on them and know for certain they were not using any other substances.
OK, which one of you was involved?

                            • High school relaxed their attendance policy for the last week of school. Student went out to the parking lot and boned his girlfriend 3 times in that week. Mom of student was apparently trying to check little Johnny out of school, and the school didn't know where he was and couldn't find him. Johnny had apparently been grounded for boning said girlfriend, and parents required chaperones when girlfriend was around and older sibling in the car when he went to and from school. Mom sued the school district under the 1st & 14th Amendments, and claimed negligence. The Free Exercise argument failed because there was no duty on the part of the district to assist Mom in teaching or imposing religious beliefs on Johnny. The 14th amendment claim (violation of right to parent) failed because the school district is not required to adopt policies to help the direct and control Johnny's choices. As to whether the school and the district were negligent for letting high schoolers roam freely without supervision (wth, Skyridge High), that's a state claim, and the federal court sent it back to state court.

As a student, I would have enjoyed a school that let me do whatever I wanted during school hours for the last week, assuming I was there at all. As a parent? wth?

                              • Coming from Canada where we had “Departmental” exams that were worth 50% off our grade to end the school year (basically graduation final exams), it seems ridiculous to me that there is nothing like final exams in high schools in the Alpine school district. Grades have to be in a week or two before the end of the school year so the last week of school it practically worthless. Kids don’t want to be there and teachers don’t want the kids there. Why do they have things set up that way? Makes no sense.
