Johnny had apparently been grounded for boning said girlfriend, and parents required chaperones when girlfriend was around and older sibling in the car when he went to and from school. Mom sued the school district under the 1st & 14th Amendments, and claimed negligence. The Free Exercise argument failed because there was no duty on the part of the district to assist Mom in teaching or imposing religious beliefs on Johnny. The 14th amendment claim (violation of right to parent) failed because the school district is not required to adopt policies to help the direct and control Johnny's choices. As to whether the school and the district were negligent for letting high schoolers roam freely without supervision (wth, Skyridge High), that's a state claim, and the federal court sent it back to state court.

As a student, I would have enjoyed a school that let me do whatever I wanted during school hours for the last week, assuming I was there at all. As a parent? wth?
I'm not sure if the school is woke or the court is woke, but I'm pretty sure someone in this equation is woke, and that's the problem.

Grades have to be in a week or two before the end of the school year so the last week of school it practically worthless. Kids don’t want to be there and teachers don’t want the kids there. Why do they have things set up that way? Makes no sense.
So the kids have space and time to bump uglies.

Are the parents lawyers? I can't imagine paying the attorney fees to file a lawsuit because the school district didn't keep my son's penis out of his girlfriend's vagina.

I want reparations - for being a good boy. $200k ought to offset the pain and suffering of a premission teenager - not lying to the Bishop twice a year.

Talk to the attorney(s) for John and Jane Doe - he/she/they will take the case.

                  • Do you have any ancestors that were evicted from Missouri or Nauvoo? If so, you should definitely blaze the trail on reparations for that.

                    • Tim Ballard seemingly got the wider recognition he wanted with a national movie. And now he has 'stepped away' from OUR. That doesn't sound fishy at all.

You took that away from the article? It could just as easily be stated that he left quietly to focus on other non-profits in which he was involved.

Sure that's possible. Still, him leaving right now sounds fishy.

How likely is it that he's leaving quietly on his own terms, in the midst of the favorable press he's getting currently?

                            • Stepped away quietly to focus on other grifts while the heat was on OUR. Wait why is this in this thread? Don't tell me he's a member. Yikes.

It depends on how much stock one puts in each account:

By one account, he’d gone to donors in a state of upset, saying that he’d been forced out and asking for their help with a new organization. Another person who’s worked with the group said that to the best of their knowledge, he was no longer with OUR and was focusing on his work with the Nazarene Fund, a Glenn Beck-backed organization that has focused on religious minorities in the Middle East but has more recently operated in Afghanistan and Ukraine. A third person familiar with OUR fundraising said that they had heard just this week that Ballard had broken with the organization.
