I'm confused - are you suggesting I am grinding an axe here?Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Father of the Year! Father of CO Springs shooter gave an interview:
Shortened version:
Dad the Good Mormon was a porn star in 2002. Ex-wife said Son committed suicide in 2016. Last saw Son in 2011. Spoke to son last year. Argued. Told son he could kick Son's ass. Son changed his name out of embarassment of Dad's porn career. Good Mormon Dad was on meth and doing porn. Dad tought son how to fight with fists.
Son's attorney called Dad. They told him a shooting happened in a gay bar. (This is at 10:30 into the interview). "OMG, is he gay? He's not gay. WHEW!" He'd spoken to his son, adamantly. "I'm Mormon, I'm conservative Republican, we don't do gay."
Dad had requested Son assault Ex-wife's boyfriend
Son did. Dad's not actively doing porn now, but said he did a few scenes a couple of years ago.
Guns are good, but he never shot guns with Son as a kid. Dad believes in right to bear arms, but "liberal freaks" in California don't.
Gays have been very mean to Dad. They are bullies. He thinks we need to stand up to Gays. Not, you know, shoot them, but right is right and marriage is between a man and woman. Dad's Mormon. Son is Mormon. Mom is Mormon. Mormons don't do gay. They aren't going to be forced to do.. He apologizes to the families of the victims. No regards to politics. Life is valuable. The victims were good people, probably.
I'm going to take a shower now.

Before the internet, did people used to harbor, dwell on, and express so much ill will? I feel like before the internet there just wasn't many ways to be all consumed like this. Like, you can only talk to yourself, family, or friends about a topic so much before they just avoid you. Out of boredom you had to attend to other subjects. But I was relatively young still when the internet really became widely used (18 ot 19 years old).Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

yikes, a couple of BYU I professors fired for expressing thoughts on LGBT?
and one was given a warning for showing a picture of daughter and wife?

In another case, a fellow instructor was given a warning after showing a family photo to her students that included a daughter and the daughter’s wife.It turns out that Buswell had recently opened up to his bishop, someone he saw as a peer and a friend, about concerns he had around the church’s policies regarding the LGBTQ community. The conversation had been a casual hallway chat that, according to Buswell, ended with him reassuring his bishop that he felt “confident I’ll figure it out, and it’s not a big deal.”
That conversation had been fresh on the bishop’s mind, the bishop told his congregant, when he had completed the form. “So, he told me, ‘I said Brother Buswell has expressed some concerns’” around the issue, but that ‘”...he is honest in his desire to understand the Lord and will come to the right decision on this.’”
Buswell believed this was the only response that could have “raised a flag.” All he could think was that a moment of honesty with his faith leader had cost him a job. As the meeting wrapped up, he said, his bishop apologized, acknowledging that if he thought such a statement would have hurt Buswell’s chances at a contract, he might not have included it.Last edited by Maximus; 11-28-2022, 01:32 PM.

I read this article this morning and it does sound bad. These were temple recommend worthy members that also had a current ecclesiastical endorsement from their bishop. I’m not very happy with this result.Originally posted by Maximus View Postyikes, a couple of BYU I professors fired for expressing thoughts on LGBT?

"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf
