Hank Smith and John Bytheway have been doing a weekly podcast (Follow Him) on the Come Follow Me lessons this year with the D&C. They have been fortunate to have a great series of guests. Weird that in the midst of that success he is dumb enough to engage in something like this. Yeesh.

He said something like "pick a side already" and he got some well-deserved blowback - I mean why in the hell would you care if someone kept some beliefs? How on earth is that a bad thing?

Anyway, Calvin replied with "On behalf of my fellow mormons, I apologize to all the ex-mos for Hank Smith" or something like that. Hank then called Calvin "Korihor" in a reply. He quickly deleted the tweet and apologized, but the damage was done.

I like Hank Smith so this was painful to watch. An unbelievable lapse in judgement. One thing you NEVER - EVER should do, is publicly go after students. Calling one the anti-christ is beyond the pale. Especially a prominent gay student like Calvin. Calvin posts some dumb things occasionally, but he is a good kid with a big heart. And he was absolutely on the right side of this one.
i think another relevant aspect of he story was that in calling him a korihor, he was agreeing with one of the leaders of deznat, iirc.

                • Anyone who posts anything on the internet for public consumption is a total idiot.

It’s unfortunate she was exed but it’s also a sort of badge of honor in among the Dehlinites.

I found out yesterday that one of wife's friends is hard-core plugged into this story. Her friend is apparently a devotee of Mormon Stories and is outraged that this therapist was brought back to Missouri, a year after she had resettled in Utah, to be disciplined by her husband's ex-boss out of spite. As comically tragic as this friend's angst may be, I'm more interested by the fact that this is the same friend who is a member of a couple of different "patriot" groups and wears the red hat. Is this a coincidental combination or is there a real intersect of Dehlin fringe Mormon wackos and far-right political wackos?

He posted something along the lines of (I can’t remember the verbiage exactly) “one thing you can do to help” and had a picture of his Venmo QR code. I found it odd and kind of funny.

Don’t get me wrong, I still like the kid but I haven’t talked to him since a couple days after he got home from his mission outside of dms from them to time. I just know most of his early story is a bunch of lies.

Venmo link? Geez, that is pathetic.

He took a couple of classes with my daughter and they both work for Terryl and Fiona Givens as research assistants. But she doesn't seem to keep up with his shenanigans. I asked her once about him and she said, "Yeah, I hear he is a big deal on twitter." She doesn't follow twitter much. Bless her heart.

I'm open to polygamy being inspired but I mostly think it was Joseph trying to mimic biblical practices. You guys can count me in your number.
