Win-win for the church. Allow ward houses to celebrate gay unions, welcome gays in long term relationships back to church, not alienate upcoming generations. But not let them in to the super secret kingdom. And gays wont have a leg to stand on, because the church is granting them the same civil right to be married until death that other churches and indeed the state confers. I think same-sex couples will not be able to demand equality for the same right to a temple sealing , because even other churches, or the state doesn't grant that right.

I loved that article by the BYU track athlete. Last night I showed it to my wife (who also ran track at BYU). We both are impressed by that woman, her teammates, and her coaches. BYU is a very different place than when we attended, which is a great thing. Is it as "evolved" as I would like? No, but students make up the heart of the university and its only going to get better over time as the youth of the church matriculate to college.
Change at BYU and the Church is inevitable as waves of tolerance and love generated by the youth lap upon beachhead of religious tradition.Dyslexics are teople poo...

Beautiful imagery, bruh. And not bitter to boot!"...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Do you think it's possible for you to post without using words like "hilarious," "absurd," "canard," and "truther"? Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."

If such a scenario eventually plays out (and I believe it will), some same-sex couples will indeed demand the right to a temple sealing. That's the nature of activism, increasingly minor sleights elicit similar levels of outrage for historically more egregious ones.Originally posted by Katy Lied View PostI think same-sex couples will not be able to demand equality for the same right to a temple sealing , because even other churches, or the state doesn't grant that right.
It shouldn't stand up in court, at least the US legal court system, though in the court of public opinion, that's unknown.

A recent high-school graduate in my ward came out as trans a few weeks ago. I gave my high-schoolers a good pep talk on why it was important to be respectful and to ensure that we extend a hand of friendship and fellowship to this kid. My oldest said, "Dad, why are you being so weird about this?" I said, "Well, I've never known a person who is trans, and I don't think you have either, and I want you to treat them the same," to which she replied, "Dad, I may not have had a trans friend before, but I do have instagram." I'm still not sure what that means, but apparently, it means that she's woke, and I'm not. Ha.Originally posted by Flystripper View PostI loved that article by the BYU track athlete. You know, Jesus had the good sense to give up the ghost after hanging on the cross for only six hours. How long do you intend to hang in there?Originally posted by MartyFunkhouser View PostGreat article indeed. The response of her coaches and teammates were perfect. The description of the environment at BYU being toxic for someone like her is also very true and demonstrates how BYU is a discriminatory institution.τὸν ἥλιον ἀνατέλλοντα πλείονες ἢ δυόμενον προσκυνοῦσιν
