cougjunkie, you also could argue that it is a problem that has been created by a long history of women being treated unequal in society and that the church has recognized it and is making steps to correct the problem. You can also argue the problem is overstated. Those are both arguments that I don't think are correct, but that you can at least argue with a straight face.As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Is it really necessary to edit prayers? Is the cult of infallibility really that nervous?Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostWomens session IS a part of general conference! Zero men line up outside to attend, disaffected members come back in droves

By Oct 10, Carlson’s prayer on the official website of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints had been edited to remove the reference to the "fourth" session. The reason, LDS Church spokesman Dale Jones said at the time, was that the women’s meetings "are not usually referred to as a session of General Conference.""More crazy people to Provo go than to any other town in the state."

This case is a good illustration of how the church is made up of a lot of people with very different opinions, outlooks, and beliefs. We sometimes think that everything is tightly coordinated and orchestrated from the top down, but that isn't the case.Originally posted by All-American View PostNo, it's not. Agreed. But don't you think the top wants it to be tightly orchestrated?Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostThis case is a good illustration of how the church is made up of a lot of people with very different opinions, outlooks, and beliefs. Ha. I know some women who were really upset when the church caved to the agitators and let women pray in GC. Boggles the mind.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostIt is also a good illustration of how the church does not bow to public pressure, legal threats, or media scrutiny.
