I believe the term used these days is craft brewery, not microbrewery.

I'm still waiting on you informing us which ethnic cuisines are gimmicks. I'm guessing by your response to this thread that you consider coffee and craft beer to be gimmicks?

My wife likes it but she like the stuff they brew at Mavrick also so it's hard to tell.

I make my own cold brew coffee. Starbucks drip isn't very tasty to me, but whatever people want to drink is fine by me. The things I like at Starbucks have as much fat and sugar as a milkshake.

I think you get a better cup of coffee at Maverick than Starbucks. At best, Starbucks is slightly better, but costs twice as much.

Have any of you coffee dudes (or funky dudettes) tried that Japanese method of slow drip? They serve it out of these crazy machines and make you a cup of coffee one drip at a time. I didnt have any but my brother loves the stuff and we spent the better part of several hours traipsing around Tokyo looking for these specialty metallic coffee pourers with ultra thin spouts.

I'm told the local coffee shop Publik has such an apparatus but I've never tried one.

                      Some need both.

Never tried it. I've heard about it, mostly in the context of iced coffee, it seems like? Was he drinking them iced?

Publik's coffee is ok, but for whatever reason they never make it hot enough, even when I order it extra hot.
