Speaking of the whole new name thing, what happens if by chance you forget it. I haven't, but then again, I'm pretty special. I thought I heard once that if you forget it, you can ask someone at the temple and as long as you know the day that you were endowed, they can look it up. So that begs the question, does the guy that gives it to you go and write it down where it gets submitted into the archives? But why then would you need to know the day you were endowed? The cynic in me thinks that they just rotate through new names and everyone that gets endowed on the same day gets the same name. Thus the hush hush.

I guess that's what I get for being too nervous to ever talk about it. But it's nice to know that the one of the most special and treasured experiences of my mortal existence is a result of some arbitrary date selection. Mysterious ways, indeed.

My name is also that of a schlep. For the longest time I wondered if it was a sign of the way God felt about me. Why wasn't my name John or Peter or Nephi?

I figured it out initially the third time my wife went to the temple on our anniversary and received the same names.
