I'm skeptical about a grass-roots effort to change the length of services and I'm skeptical about the long-term additional happiness of the membership at large by scaling Sunday services back. The displaced unhappiness will just take up residence somewhere else.

I'm perfectly fine with 2 hour services. Alternate weeks between SS and Priesthood/RS.

They used to cover from wrist to ankle and they were one piece. Now its two piece and is like a t-shirts and boxers. The indy coug back then would have said:

I've been in the nursery or primary for the past 3 years. I in fact, have been watching my kids for the full three hours.

I have two hour church right now. I hate EQ and find it to be the spiritual lowlight of my week. So I do something else. I told this to a member of the bishopric who is a close friend the other day.

We also have two hour church. We seem to miss that first hour regularly. Actually, I have two hours of hanging out with my 2-year-old and all of his peers.

Ya'll are wimps - I remember when the block cut down our obligations time spent worshipping the Lord, We though three hrs was a good deal

Confession time - I normally only attend 2 hrs - the house is less the 400 yrds from the chapel

How many of the less actives on the board do you think this would bring back? My guess would be right around 0.

I was talking with a guy in my ward about 2 hour church the other day, we agreed that our ward would be a good fit to pilot it.

I would guess around 0 too based on the sample size I know. A two hour meeting is one hour more than I go now.

I would guess it would be a break for the actives and have no effect on the inactives.

Make a business case for cramming 4+ units into one building in high-density LDS population centers. Show how much money the church will save by not having to acquire land and building chapels to maintain the 3 unit/chapel ratio.

I hope you're not suggesting the church is motivated by money.

The future is here for me today. For the third hour, we have the service missionaries in to talk to the combined adults about the addiction recovery program. I took advantage of the fact that my daughter had already been brought crying to me once today, and decided to excuse myself to check on her. She is fine, so I am in the foyer talking basketball and taking a stroll in the beautiful 60 degree weather.

Same for me! Ward conference today, so church is only an hour!

I was speaking with a client on Friday and told him I would give him a call back Monday. When he says:

"First of all when you call back make it very clear that you are returning my call otherwise my wife will immediately hang up on you. Also I am a religious man so if you call after 7pm I WILL NOT ANSWER (extra emphasis) because we have family home evening."

He obviously does not know me very well no way am I still working at 7.
