It would work in my area. Texans aren't as judgmental. Heck, even my bishopric avoids SS and often times they are just hanging out in the hallways. Some people in my area have a 35 minute drive to our church (as they pass 2 other church buildings). On mutual nights the parents of those kids just sit in the foyer and read. I went on a CB tear a couple days ago about Sunday School. I think having it next to Sacrament meeting has neutered the teaching. SS has become another worship service. We need to put the "school" back into Sunday School. I have two hour church right now. I hate EQ and find it to be the spiritual lowlight of my week. So I do something else. I told this to a member of the bishopric who is a close friend the other day.Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.Comment

I'm skeptical about a grass-roots effort to change the length of services and I'm skeptical about the long-term additional happiness of the membership at large by scaling Sunday services back. After I got an iphone, church became 2 hours, and 1 hour on the back row of highpriests catching up on news, and working on my stick golfer short game.I intend to live forever.
So far, so good.
