We are blessing Juliya the first weekend in November, any CUFer is welcome to come and participate, I'm thinking of doing a wave around the circle. It'll take some practice to coordinate, but I think worth it.

Shaken bbaby syndrome is no laughing matter.

Has anyone ever tried elevating the baby above the blessing circle? In the similitude of a literal offering to the heavens, with all arms raised? That could be cool.

Another one that would be unique would be to prop the baby in a tiny baby chair and do a traditional hands on head blessing, but with an infant. That would also be cool as 8 or 10 guys are leaning all the way over to participate.

I always find it interesting to see who really shows off the baby to the audience after the blessing. I always thought it would be cool to show the baby off Lion King style, but I chickened out. That or their necks are still too weak to hold up their head...I can't remember which.

I talked to my wife, and she thought it sounded fun. Wardrobe wise, I'm thinking I could rent a prom tux with purple and gold accents, and walking stick. Also, if I'm going to drive 100 miles, I'm going to need to be the voice. I can do a British, Indian, and Southern accents, but my best is the Utah accent where I say crick rather than creek. Maybe we can skip Sunday School and go golfing as well.

We are now being treated to a review of the RNC.
This is actually a weird bit of synchronicity; I was just thinking about this today. I went up to help with a blessing, my hand was at the bottom, and I started to do the whole up and down thing, but hit resistance. No one else was doing it. I sat there the whole rest of the meeting wondering when the church stopped bouncing babies during their blessing. Was there some sort of memo from the First Presidency? Or at least a press release? I certainly hope so, as I would hope that we all have enough respect for the unwritten order of things not to simply stop bouncing babies without SOME sort of direction.

It has been seven years since I blessed a baby, and two or three since I helped out, so maybe I missed something along the way, but I'll tell you this. Seven years ago, when we blessed my daughter, I made darn sure that she was bounced.

I learned that playing the piano for primary beats any administrative calling by a country mile.

This is being posted from a piano bench in the primary room listening to the kids twist up the primary president during sharing time. Pure fun!

if there are two callings I aspire to it is primary accompanist or chorister. I've been a substitute chorister on occasion and man, that is heaven on earth.

I'll ask ldc about the voice part, doesn't bother me. Purple and gold would be a "Fetch no!" there will be no Husky colors at the blessing.

Okay I've got this. It could be like a small child giving a prayer where you will whisper the words to clack as he speaks into the mic. I'm sure ldc will go for that.

We complain a lot on here, but here's a real positive. Every testimony today was centered on Christ. It moved me so much that I offered my own testimony of the atonement. It was a great day.

I had the same experience, absent me giving my testimony. It was a great sacrament meeting today.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes.
