Unlike in some fringe stakes where it is encouraged, role playing activities are expressly prohibited in my stake.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

I think there was the impression that the stake was endorsing men to grow period appropriate beards through November in hope that they would be selected in the production. I'm grateful that our area authorities are so involved in their wards and stakes.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostProbably some gay parents taking their kids in Vegas, aka Sin City, I can see why they don't want them seeing this kind of spiritual display.I told him he was a goddamn Nazi Stormtrooper.

Just call it a scouting activity and not a church activity. Done!Originally posted by Donuthole View PostUnlike in some fringe stakes where it is encouraged, role playing activities are expressly prohibited in my stake."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. So the lesson today is living a Christ centered life and then most of the discussion was from the teachings of Peter. We talked about the virtues as outlined by Peter but Christ and his life were hardly brought up. I usually enjoy the lesson before Christmas because i can count on a lesson about Christ but the one today was sorely lacking.

Same lesson, Christ's life was central to the teaching. Instructor started out with some very lame jokes about the game.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Didn't make it to church today, as I was flying back to Utah on Southwest.Originally posted by RC Vikings View PostSo the lesson today is living a Christ centered life and then most of the discussion was from the teachings of Peter. Ha, our instructor tried to talk about the game too. "Much like what Utah should've done, we just need to keep going and keep pushing forward, not sit back and hold on." He got a lot of confused looks, so I bailed him out with the old John Madden quote..."you are what your record says you are" and applied that to the level of focus we should have on developing Christ-like attributes.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostSame lesson, Christ's life was central to the teaching. Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I only heard two comments about the game while at church yesterday. The first was from one of only two ute fans in the ward (he's semi-active but of course was early to church yesterday) and the second was from a USU fan

As we were walking into the game, an obviously inebriated Ute was hassling someone wearing a Utah Jazz hat. Turns out he was a USU fan. Not sure if he was meeting up with anyone else, or just coming to watch the game by himself.Originally posted by Moliere View PostI only heard two comments about the game while at church yesterday.
