Consider me bummed, as I'm pretty sure my SP's pre-broadcast talk was a lot of chastising those who are criticizing the new policy.

It was actually pretty good-- focused on simplifying your life, choosing best over better, basing your testimony on the pillars of the gospel, etc.

Anyone else have regional conference? I think Dhole did. Falafel? NMD?

I was reminded how much I don't like sitting with my family during church Spent 2 hours trying to get my youngest to behave, then after teh choir number MJ came to sit by us and gave me an earful for checking CS during Oaks' talk.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Hmmm. Sorry your kids/primary aren't able to hold your attention beyond your typical sacrament meeting experience.

I enjoyed our Primary Program, even though not a single kid yelled into the mike. We had one kid with special needs who communicated via a Hawkingesque computer voice, but that was more touching than funny. The Primary chorister is a guy in his 30s (coincidentally, the father of the special needs kid) who really has no musical ability--he can barely keep time as he waves his arms when leading the singing. But what he lacks in skill he more than compensates for with personality and enthusiasm--and the kids love him. He dressed up in a tux, complete with red bow tie and cummerbund, and picked up a baton, as if he were leading the Berlin Philharmonic. The kids sang with gusto and pretty much nailed all their speaking parts. I was unable to get in any shuteye, and probably won't get another reverence award, but it was worth it.

We had PriPro too. I thought it was awesome. They let kids sort of reprise greatest hits from Primary talks during the year and it was genuinely funny. We had a great string orchestra that performed. I'm a snob about stuff like that but it was solid, in-tune playing. They did a lot of Napoleon Dynamite Happy Hands Club-style sign language numbers. Great stuff!

Our teenagers totally agree with DDD though. I had to tell them to put their phones away and my daughter protested "But this is so boring!"

If one choses not to attend, does that still count as having regional conference?

Stake conference is in two weeks. This November is awesome.

I counted it. When I found out the assigned building for my ward to attend would be on video feed only for regional conference, I skipped. Stake conference is next week. Agree, November is awesome.

It was video feed for everybody, wasn't it? I was under the impression this thing was pre-recorded.

We had a person walk in off the street and attend sacrament meeting today. She sang the hymns, partook of the Sacrament, and nodded her head when she heard something she liked. After the meeting several sisters went out of their way to say Hi and welcomed her to attend SS and RS. All in all they were friendly but not too pushy, and the gal seemed to like the attention.
