I learned that the wireless password is the same in Costa Rica.

One of the speakers today told us we should refer to each other as Brother/Sister/President/etc. instead of our first names. That's one I used to hear occasionally 30 years ago, but not so much lately.

If I refer to you as "Brother" or "Sister" last name, it generally means I have forgotten your first name.

Some of the senior officers in the military love to call everyone by our first names. It became very confusing on our last operation because there were at least three of us named Dave. I see it as important in the Military to maintain that formality--not so much in the Church.

I really, really dislike that approach. I know where they are coming from with this form of address but it really changes the tone of conversation if it's overused. It especially bugs me when people who are on a first-name basis outside church start routinely calling each other "Brother" or "Sister" in church.

Which reminds me of a story. A friend of mine was involved in an address by President Kimball at the Marriott Center. During the setup, and before the doors were opened, some of the audio-visual guys were rearranging some cables. President Kimball was there early and was at the podium being shown something about how the microphone worked. One of the AV guys, who had his back to President Kimball, said to his co-worker, "Hey, Spence, will you hand me that blue cable over there?" Before anyone else could do anything, President Kimball bent over, picked up the cable, handed to the guy, and went back to what he was doing at the podium. I always chuckle when I think about that one.
