Maybe.... but within the context of the conversation his point was not nonsensical. His disclaimers prove that he knew ahead of time that it might be offensive and that he likely didn't intend to offend. Your positions would be stronger, then, if you stuck to your own arguments and left out the personal attacks. Within the context of the conversation his thought wasn't necessarily (or at least completely) about homosexuality, yet you chose to jump for the jugular. Why?
