I might swing by the temple tonight and grab some "fast food" for dinner because I can get my food within 5 minutes for dine-in.

Whole Foods >>>>>>>>>>> Trader Joe's in every way imagineable.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostWhole Foods is delish. I am with you, SeattleUte. And there is something there for everyone. The Puffy Check love getting a baked treat from the bakery. I have recently introduced them to freshly baked macaroons. They have tried baklava. You can't get that at McDonald's.
In fairness, I think Art Vandelay was asking for input in the event that you do NOT have Whole Foods as an option.
Other grocers that have impressive grocery store eats are Bristol Farms and Gelson's. Not sure if these are national places or California spots, but I don't mind eating at either one. The Pavilion's type supermarkets will often have something interesting to eat, as well, but it becomes much more hit and miss at that point.
There is this one gourmet supermarket in Houston that is delightful. I loved going there for eats. nice selection of fresh produce as well as great samplings of all kinds of food. Maybe nik knows which one I am talking about it. It was not far from the Galleria area. I want to say Central Market? Or Market Center? Something like that.
I don't lump Trader Joe's into this category because, while I love Trader Joe's, it isn't really a place to go and sit down for a meal.
There are grocery stores that serve prepared food with places to sit almost everywhere. What is unique about Whole Foods is 1) the freshness and quality, 2) the variety (you can eat decadant, healthy, the bakery and salad bar are huge, thre is fresh made chocolates, ice cream, seafood, etc.; you can grab something out of the store to supplement; the big one here downtown (the one by my house is a half-sized Whole Foods) lets you grab a steak or seafood out of the cases and they'll cook it for you right there), 3) price. Yes, Whole Foods is not cheap if you're buying groceries, not at all. But I've decided the prepared food is subsidized to get people in there. I've found that most prepared food at stores is as expensive as restaurants and not as good. Whole Foods is the same price as fast food and comparable to decent restaurants. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

Another one I would disagree with, at least to the "every way imaginable" extent. As a grocery store, WF is clearly better. It's just much more comprehensive (though the aim of the two is clearly not the same), the quality of the meats and produce are better, etc. But TJ's has it's place, and for a small family like ours that depends on pre-prepared (or easily prepared) stuff for lunch at work or a fast dinner, TJ's can't be beat. It's also quite a bit cheaper in my experience.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostWhole Foods >>>>>>>>>>> Trader Joe's in every way imagineable. So Russell...what do you love about music? Let me put it this way. We live by both stores. We are fans of Whole Foods. We never get a yen to go to Trader Joe's. Also, I put Trader Joe's, Volvos, and U.S. professional soccer in the same category.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostAnother one I would disagree with, at least to the "every way imaginable" extent. Things we have learned today about SU:
1) He employs a yoga master
2) He considers Whole Foods market to be a fast food chain.
