From Jacob's explanation of his "mistake" and making smokey the way he is, it doesn't sound like there is a 1 for 1 relationship there where there must needs be a smokey replacement like there is with Jacob.

Of course, that assumes that smokey's arrival was in fact Jacob's doing.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Agree. Another point we need to consider is that the source for all the "truth" about the island is the mother. A liar and manipulator. It might be too confusing too trick us with information so late in the game, but I wonder how much of it is suspect. MIB doesn't seem to believe it. Right? His goal seems to be to get off the island to have a normal life, but that would be impossible per the mythology.

        My questions I want answered:

        1. Where did Jacob get his resources for all his travel and connivance?

        2. Who made the island? Is it a living thing?

        3. Who made the rules? Where did he/she/it/they get their power/authority?

        4. How did the island heal Locke and Rose?

        5. Why couldn't Ben kill Charles in his bedroom that one time?

        6. Why the hell do you give us an entire episode about Richard, and then kill him off without even showing us his body? Why did he just take Jacob's place?

        7. Who made the airdrops to Desmond/Survivors with all the Dharma stuff?

        8. If Jacob selected people who were all in bad places, why did he go after Locke the first time (well, it was Richard really) when he was a kid?

        9. Who is Jack's son's mom?

        10. Lapidas? What the hell? A wasted character. Why?

this was answered already. When Locke was traveling through time he told Richard to go find him.

Don't forget Jimmy Kimmel for an hour after the news -- that will basically be the post-game show, interviews with cast, etc.

A friend jokingly asked if the light on the island was the light in the briefcase from Pulp Fiction. That'd be a fun twist for everyone.
I have nothing else to say at this time.

Pumped for the finale tonight. Wife,s got a Super Bowl party type spread going. I listened to the SI interview with Catrlton podcast linked here. Good stuff. He was refreshingly honest. Basically said they had nothing long term planned at the beginning. Then sketched out some mythology between season one and two but it didn't really come together until they decided on the end date circa season threeish. But even then they were tweaking till thbe end.
