I feel like they could have combined the plot from the two movies, let a better screenwriter write the script and put the movie in the hands of someone who hadn't taken 20 year break from film directing. Then they could have turned Episode 3 into two movies. There are actually some good parts to Revenge of the Sith, but Lucas basically had a bunch of boxes to check off towards the end of the movie ( Leia has to go to Jimmy Smits, and Yoda has to find his way to Degobah, etc.)Originally posted by beefytee View PostThe bar for horrible Star Wars movies was set by Attack of the Clones. It's the worse Start Wars movie made, worse than Phantom Menace.
I always thought it was funny how they decided to hand Luke off to his uncle (and was he ever in any of the other prequels?) and keep his name Skywalker -- let's just hide him in plain sight I guess. The only way they could really make it work is if Darth Vader never knew Natalie Portman was pregnant.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Guys, the trick here is to just keep your expectations low. I have enjoyed the Star Wars movies."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

It was very good. Not great, but definitely one of the better Star Wars movies. Definitely worth seeing."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Watched episodes 4 and 5 with my kids last night. I know my son (15) had seen them before but my daughter (11) claimed not to know anything about Star Wars. They enjoyed the movies and were asking to watch episode 6, which we may do today."I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

As a movie it’s like a punk rock solo: sloppy, messy, and rushed. But it’s really a hell of a lot of fun.Originally posted by Moliere View PostIt was very good. There’s a manual ignore feature. When you see the name you don’t read what they say. Works great.Originally posted by Commando View PostAs a movie it’s like a punk rock solo: sloppy, messy, and rushed. But it’s really a hell of a lot of fun.τὸν ἥλιον ἀνατέλλοντα πλείονες ἢ δυόμενον προσκυνοῦσιν

Abrams and Johnson don't have compatible visions.
Abrams' Star Wars is fun, and the writing can do absurd things like resurrect the emperor with 100 planet-destroying ships.
Johnson is woke, and knows how to make you feel like you put down $10 a ticket for sociology homework. Solo suffered at the box office as fall out from Johnson's arrogance, and not from it's own merits. We all trust our own unorthodoxies.

Disagree. Yes they have different styles obviously, but RJ made a beautiful, well thought out, well themed movie that also introduced new elements to the SW universe that JJ(a producer of TLJ btw) used to great effect to complete the storyline. I don’t get all the dummies saying JJ ‘retconned’ TLJ. Not at all. And you blame Solo’s performance on TLJ? The biggest movie of 2017 and one of the bigger home releases of 2018? Even though Solo had well publicized problems i.e. directors getting fired, etc and was poorly marketed and released just 5 months after TLJ- scarcely a month after its home video promo cycle had ended? It’s Rian Johnson’s arrogance to blame? (Yet the sequel to RJ’s movie is breaking more records) That’s a stretch.Originally posted by Sleeping in EQ View PostAbrams and Johnson don't have compatible visions.

Oh and who was on here predicting ROS was going to be a flop? Not a very incisive prediction to say the least.Last edited by Commando; 12-26-2019, 03:55 PM."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'll make his whole brand go under,"
