  • Bad Batch has dropped. Clone Wars animated series is not a required prerequisite to watch it, but it is highly recommended.

I caught the first 20 minutes or so this morning-- honestly I thought it would be boring, but I really, really like where this is going. It's at a relatively unknown period of time dealing with things that have only been intimated by other sources (post-Republic winding down the clone use, etc). A couple of cool cameos, too. I'm going to rewatch it tonight.

      • The opening scene was strong. I loved the Clone Wars narration up front and the notable padawan appearance.

I kind of have a hunch where they might be going with Omega, but I hope I'm wrong. But she is a likeable character so far.

        Overall a great first episode.

Where do you think they're going with Omega?

            Spoiler for Omega:
I think they might be making her force sensitive. The whole force sensitive clone thing just isn't a compelling storyline to me. I know it is for some though. I would much prefer for her to be kind of a culmination of all the abilities of the Bad Batch. Not force sensitive, but a clone superhero. But the more I think about it, the latter is where they might be going. She made that amazing shot without ever having picked up a blaster. I just thought that scene when they were all locked up together and she told Crosshair that she knows what he is going to do, seemed like force precognition. But it could be that she is just aware of the chip technology by working closely with Nala Se

              Yeah

              Spoiler for omega:
I didn't get force sensitive vibes at all with her. I like the characters and how they have managed to bring others (Saw/Kanan) into the story, but just seems like a totally different road that they might not want to go down with everything else coming down the pike. I like that she is literally (as the Omega) the culmination of all the clones, so it will be interesting to see what they do with that. However, this is the one thing I don't like about these stories that are basically prequels to something else-- not that much room to move. If we have never heard of her it kind of makes me think her story begins and ends all before Episode IV and it's inconsequential to the entire rest of the timeline. I'll hold out hope that they manage to do more than that, though.

I agree with the problem of not having much room to move with characters given the established movies existing without them being a part of it. They got creative with Ashoka and the characters from Rebels. They could do it here as well I suppose. But I love the worlds that Filoni has created. And I could see them all being tied in together in the live action shows with some sort of reason for their disappearance during the original trilogy. It sounds like the Ashoka live action film will essentially be a continuation of Rebels. The possibility that all of these other characters Filoni created outside of the movie trilogies converging into his live action series is intriguing.

But I really want some sort of show that focuses on Luke post ROTJ when he is at his peak. I don't care if its animated or live action. Just as long as it's done well (and preferably ignores his arc in the sequels )

                • So the first 2 installments of the Book of Boba Fett are out and it is quite fantastic. And I'm a guy who didn't care even a little bit that there was a Boba Fett movie in development that was scrapped a few years ago. Very distinct in tone from the Mandalorian and definitely a unique feel, despite the sprinklings of SW fan service we see. This is the way it probably always should have been presented-- in a way that develops not only the titular character, but the characters and timeline around him. I can see this going several different ways-- one of them following some of the threads teased in the Solo movie. Can't wait for more...

I watched the first episode with my son. I was kind of bored but I was also pretty sick. I'll watch the latest episode this weekend with the kid. I usually worry about spoilers but I haven't seen any talk of it yet.

There is a spoiler, I guess, but it's very easter-eggy. Not even a spoiler, but kind of a wink. I would say 95% of viewers aren't picking stuff like that up, so that's why you're not hearing about 'spoilers.' The episode is mostly character-building with a smattering of forward plot movement. It's slow-burn SW and I love it.

                          • Yep. It is missing the baby Yodas. It’s missing the cgi young Luke Skywalkers. Where are the cross over characters like Ahsoka Tano. Basically it’s the Mandalorian without any twists or turns and not much meaningful nostalgia.

It’s definitely not entirely exciting but like the Mandolorian, I suspect it’s taking some time to do character development before it takes off. The last episode was great with the tie in to the mandolorian.
