Really? I thought it was a terrible episode ... just about to give up on the show. The twist made absolutely no sense at all. Why is she calling Virgil? Why is she asking her neighbor about her car? Why is she stealing money from her friend? None of that makes any sense if she was in on it the whole time.Originally posted by Surfah View PostJust when I was bailing, they suck me right back in.

For two reasons, I think. First is that she's under surveillance from the other group and it can't look like she has any ties to the CIA. The second is that I'm sure nobody at the CIA beyond Saul knows this is happening. Not a perfect explanation, but it covers most of it.Originally posted by UVACoug View PostReally? That twist sucked me back in on Carrie's story as well. The Dana stuff continues to make me want to gouge my eyes out. We'll see if they can resurrect the Brody piece because that last episode focusing on him was really dumb.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

It's far fetched as hell for sure, but if you allow for it, she had to go along with everything to ensure that she could be recruited. If you're recruiting someone to be an asset, you vet them. You make sure they're vulnerable or in a compromised position that you can exploit for your own gain. This is why Saul threw her under the bus and had her committed. Everything had to seem legit because Iran would be checking into everything too. They'd see the DOJ order, the TSA no fly list, the frozen accounts, etc. Also, this is Saul's deal. Dar Adal knows nothing of this I am sure and is acting to protect the agency from the loose cannon Carrie. Carrie would never be targeted unless all of this was legit.Originally posted by UVACoug View PostReally? I thought it was a terrible episode ... just about to give up on the show. Dana's story is lame. I am not sure why they are still going with it. At least in this last episode we understand the Brody and Venezuela connection. Still, I don't understand why he is there or would mean anything to Iran at this point. Why would they want him? He's America's most wanted. I don't know what use he has to them anymore especially with Abu Nazir dead.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostFor two reasons, I think. I think Dana and her bf kill/injure each other, Brody (I hate that his wife calls him by his last name) gets word and he sneaks back in to the US.Originally posted by Surfah View PostDana's story is lame. The one that really doesn't make sense is why she would sit on her couch by herself crying and doing her crazy chin thing while Saul was testifying. Unless she was just a really committed method actor / agent.Originally posted by UVACoug View PostReally? I thought it was a terrible episode ... just about to give up on the show. It makes me wonder/assume that even Carrie didn't know when or what was coming.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostThe one that really doesn't make sense is why she would sit on her couch by herself crying and doing her crazy chin thing while Saul was testifying. That's possible. Could have been that she hatched the plan with Saul but didn't know how far he'd actually take it and was in fact hurt by the testimony.Originally posted by Surfah View PostIt makes me wonder/assume that even Carrie didn't know when or what was coming. So Russell...what do you love about music? Probably and we know she was hurt that he left her in the hospital. The more I think about I am sure that is the case. We have to remember what happened with Carrie was Dar Adal's doing. All of those things were his suggestions, the testimony, the hospital, the DOJ order, etc. Saul just went along with it. And I am sure because Carrie knew he was behind it she wasn't even sure if Saul knew what was going on (aside from the testimony he gave).Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostThat's possible. As much as I think they made a mistake by not killing of Brody in the first season (or putting him in prison in the middle of the second), the show really seems to suffer without having a antagonist as dynamic as Damian Lewis. Claire Daines is great (though I don't think she has been given very good material since the interrogation scene last year), but the show really needs someone for her to play off. Ever since she arrested Brody, Carrie has become nothing more than Saul's foot soldier. I'm not talking about romance though. The Brody/Carrie romance was the biggest mistake the show made, and may be its death knell if they emphasize it during the second half of this season. Clearly Brodie is coming back at some point ... hopefully not for long.
