I liked it too. Strange how they were such celebrities.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Haven't finished the ST season yet - just 5 episodes in so far. But since I haven't seen more than 2-3 Granite Flats episodes, I'm not sure of their similarities.

Just watched Life of Brian for the first time. It's a great compliment to my reading of Brothers Karamozov. I think my favorite scene was when they asked "What have the Romans ever done for us?"
"I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

How about the fact they have the 15 year old boys on the show sporting dutchboy haircuts in 1985? I don't have a huge volume of memories from 1985, but I'm pretty sure high school kids weren't trying to look like the kid from D.A.R.Y.L. and Neverending Story. Also, the kid that plays Winona Ryder's younger son appears to have a had growth spurt between the time they started filming season 3 and did the reshoots.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

These kids are total nerds. Looking goofy is the entire point.

I could look through my brothers' high school year books from 85 and 86 (with around 3,000 students) and not find a single boy with a dutchboy haircut. No way.

I had the same thought. If they wanted to go nerdy, it would've been more accurate for them to be sporting butt cuts. Can't remember a single kid with a haircut like those two boys have, and they are playing my class.

There's not a butt cut (I'm assuming that means the blow dried wings) to be seen on the show and literally half the high school kids in those years had that haircut.

This is what 83-86 looked like

Agreed. They are not supposed to be on the leading edge of the then current fashion. Will even puts on a purple wizard robe to role play DnD. Goober. The Prince Valiant 'do' suits him.

I was more struck by the fact that no one ever locks up a bike. Not even at the mall. That's fine, as long as you didnt expect it to be there when you came out.
                      PLesa excuse the tpyos.

Lol. That is a ridiculous comparison. Come on.

California kids right? Definitely not the same kids living in small town Indiana (or wherever the show takes place).

                          • Was it the most popular look by then? No. Was it around? Sure.

1985 yearbooks from a quick google search:

                            Safford AZ:

I'm not sure I even owned a bike lock in the mid 80's. Didn't lock my bike anywhere me and my friends went, but it was always there when we came out. Of course, it might've been that I was riding a cheap bike too.

Never owned a bike lock as a kid. Rode my bike every day.

                                Never owned a helmet either.
