BYU got a shout out on S1 of Homeland as well. Wanna-be call girl is a grad. Real wholesome type. Hollywood writers love BYU!

In case you didn't know, Homeland is not available on Netflix, so perhaps this is the wrong thread for this comment.

    • Finally done with AHS Season 2. Much better than 1 IMO. Jessica Lange was especially good.

      • I've been watching the Clone Wars animated series. In fact, I'm hooked; on season 4 out of 6. The introductory movie and much of the first season are a little twee with little morals at the end and sort of targeted at a younger crowd, although still entertaining. And then over the next couple of seasons it gets a bit dark.. and awesome. I hadn't watched this before b/c I thought of it as a kids' show, but that was wrong of me. This is essential viewing for Star Wars geeks.

        • Saw 20 feet from Stardom. Decent flick. Also saw We are What we are, about a family of cannibals. That led me to watching a documentary on Youtube, called Kuru: The Science and the Sorcery. That was great! I kept thinking of Wuap's dad, who died of CJ disease. Wuap, you should watch this. (Not that I am implying anything about your dad-- one of the findings of the movie was that CJ Disease occurs spontaneously in people). But CJ Disease can jump species (humans, chimps, sheep, cows) and every time it jumps, the incubation time doubles. They have found Kuru in people with 50 year incubation spans! So you can contract it, and pass it on without ever knowing you have it. I'm fascinated by prions now.

We watched this the other night. I don't know what commando said about it, but I hope he thought it was a pile of doo doo like I did. I have to agree with those who criticized making these guys sympathetic and comedic.

Side note: Gidget and I were trying to decide what to watch. It came down to this (shocker, Marky Mark and The Rock in tank tops) or Pacific Rim which I championed. When she asked what it was about and I said monsters attack and these giant Mechwarriors fight them I just had to laugh because there was no way I was winning. Guillermo Del Toro couldn't even help me.

Yeah I don't remember either, other than I went off on a rant about how I got into a sneak preview for free and still felt ripped off. I think I may have mentioned about how it's "based on a true story," and they take pains to remind you of that during the movie, yet every other thing is made up. Too bad you had to sit through it rather than Pacific Rim, which is a lot more fun.

IIRC, even some of the "true" stuff that they repeatedly say is true, isn't actually 100% true.

                  • My shameful secret: Orange is the New Black is premiering 6 new episodes this weekend. I shall lock myself up in the guest bedroom on the pretext of cleaning out the guest room closet and binge watch all 6 episodes. I shall arrange to eat junk food at the same time.

Yep, it was a big, steaming pile. MG said he "really enjoyed" it, but I'll leave that for him to defend.

                      • Why the need for the pretext? Just sit on the couch and binge watch a TV show because you want to like everyone else.

Says the dude with no kids (and apparently no commas, either).

This is pretty shameful, but you know what? As someone who has watched this, in addition to multiple seasons of Weeds, I cannot judge. I'll likely be right there with you watching it. I want to see what happens after what's her psycho got shanked... is that what happened? I'll have to go back and check what the cliffhanger was, but yeah.

Yeah, I think I was the only one here that liked it. Might have been even somewhere near my top 10 for last year -- can't remember. Very similar to Spring Breakers but I liked this more.

What does that have to do with it? She won't be paying attention to her kids while she's cleaning the guest bedroom either. Just watch the TV show, Cinderella.
