Highly recommended, though perhaps not for all (definitely not family friendly).
Watched this tonight (Spanish: "Relatos salvajes") via Roku streaming... burned a T-mobile Tuesday FandangoNow credit on it. I had forgotten about this rather obscure film, but something jogged my memory about it and was able to seek it out. (I recalled it being a Scandinavian film at first.)

Agree that the weakest two (the utterly predictable ones) were still good. Loved the short pre-title opening, the sudden twist ending of the one with the BMW, and the "happy ending" of the last one. The road rage one probably my favorite. Chuckled a few times and shook my head in disbelief a few other times. Good stuff. Wish I knew Spanish.

    • Moonlight- Not exactly what I would call a feel-good movie, exploring themes of abuse, isolation, and the value of human intimacy. It was very well done- if it was not as well done, there would be very little ambiguity about how to feel about its message as a film and would be pretty easy to dismiss.

Hacksaw Ridge- Exactly what I would call a feel-good movie. Such a great war movie and movie in general. I have a new-found respect for Andrew Garfield and a renewed fondness for Vince Vaughn, too.

Probably one of my favorite ever opening scenes.

lol. No greater love hath a man than this, that he would go to that movie in the interest of marital harmony...

Actually, I haven't seen it. Does it deserve its 18% Rotten Tomatoes rating?

It's about what you would expect of a film based on a best selling Christian fiction book. Kind of a step above a 1980's Sunday Night TV movie in production values. If you liked the book, you'll like the movie. I doubt anyone here's read the book. I have to admit I'm a sucker for manipulated spiritual experience at times, so I didn't hate the movie, and there were parts that touched me.

              • Supersonic - This is a documentary on Oasis. I was a big Oasis fan in the 90s and still listen to some of their music. Don't Look Back in Anger is an all time favorite for me. The documentary was interesting and well put together but I didn't like the format as much as other documentaries. They used that style where they layer on cutout pictures here and there to kind of emphasize points and it became a bit Mickey Mouseish after a while. There was also not much new. I've always known about the feuding in the band and how dysfunctional they were and also that Noel was the brains behind pretty much everything, including all the hit songs and Liam was really the front man that the band needed to get to where they ended up. Liam still sucks are singing, but his attitude and assholery were needed to elevate the band and fill a big hole that existed in music during that time. I was surprised at how average of musicians all the band members were adn they weren't shy about saying that. Oasis knew they weren't great musicians, just that they had hit songs and an attitude. I'd recommend it for people that liked Oasis, but others will find it tedious and boring.

Manchester by the Sea - I have to watch this again. I watched it in two parts and fell asleep the first time so by the time it got near the end, I had forgotten who Randi was. Ugh, big mistake on my part. Plus, I watched the last part on a plane and it was hard to hear since I was at the back of the plane by the engine. I finally put it all together later but it lost its delicate touch by then so I'll watch it again.

The Sound of Music - A classic. I skipped some songs, but definitely a great movie. My kids thought the intermission was weird. I had to explain to them that back then people didn't have pause buttons and the movies were longer, kind of like plays, so intermissions were used to let people go pee or smoke. They still think it's weird.

As I've gotten older I could use an intermission to pee.

Sadly this is true. Usually I make my own intermission and leave my wife so we can inform each other what we missed.

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

I love Oasis. They were a breath of fresh air. Don't Look Back In Anger is my favorite Oasis song. I remember watching an acoustic special where Liam feigned sickness so Noel covered all of the lead vocals. Frankly I preferred Noel singing the songs.

                              • Oasis sucked; just another reason to not like Moliere.

Looks like we have three of Moliere's five "best albums of all time" pegged now. Wilco's Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Adele's latest (whatever that was), and some crappy Oasis album.
