the action sequences were outstanding, which you’d expect. The acting was superb. The script was laborious and over explanatory. The characters were their usual over-characterized selves. The plot was full of holes and the mission way too exact. So it was basically a good action movie and worth seeing on the big screen.

This was the 8th Mission:Impossible movie. Might be time to rename them Mission: Difficult but Doable.

I did like the movie. Especially call-backs to the early movies.

Sinners. Meh. Two interesting ideas (African American twins returning to home in Mississippi after criming in Chicago to start a night club and fight some racism, and mythology about vampires and musical shamans) that really didn't gel together for me. Music was enjoyable and acting was decent (Jordan seems to always do well), but there were too many threads and not enough time for them to get fleshed out. C+.

Concur. In fact, I walked out with around 40 minutes left. It wasn't that bad, but the main reason I went in was to buy time during heavy rush hour traffic. Traffic cleared up and I wanted to watch an NBA playoff game. The movie wasn't horrible--indeed, it was a mighty effort--but not my thing.

I don’t know how I missed this one, but Greyhound was a great movie. I’m a sucker for a Tom Hanks-connected WWII flick, however.

The non race scenes were boring and predictable, but it was worth seeing in the theater for the racing scenes, which were awesome.

As a huge F1 fan, I am looking forward to seeing this on a giant screen. Probably this weekend.

NYT published their best 100 movies of the 21st century. There are the obvious ones that only stuffy movie critics like, but I ageee with a lot of them. I’ve seen 41.

I liked Superman. Good entertaining movie that says that kindness is the new punk rock. Good stuff.

I watched No Holds Barred. That movie was effing wild. Highly recommend watching it. RIP, Hulk Hogan.

One Battle After Another. A solid 'meh' that should have been great. Of the 3 thirds of the movie, the second was great. At times hilarious and tense, it brought out the best of DiCaprio and del Toro. But the last third was. so. long. Plot lines that were completely unnecessary. Should have been trimmed by half an hour. I assume Sean Penn will be looked at for awards, but his over the top performance as an uber right-wing military guy had my eyes rolling.

What is it with Anderson and his fear of editors? A movie can just be 2 hours long you know.

New Tron was pleasantly good. And the retro-feel to the original in ways I think was done tasteful. They also left open for more.

I watched Weapons over the weekend. Really enjoyed it. Creepy thriller with clever use of non-linear storytelling. I also really liked Brolin's performance, and it was nice to see that annoying blond girl from Ozark in a slightly different role. Streaming on HBO Max or whatever that app is called these days.
