I felt like they purposefully tried to model this movie after the Guardians of the Galaxy. Even some of the music was similar.Originally posted by Flystripper View PostDeadpool has the best jokes for a comic book movie followed by both Guardians of the Galaxy movies.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. I think that was a change for the better. I thought Thor 2 was zzzzzzzzzzzz. Deadpool was cool, but the jokes were super ham-fisted and crude. By design, sure, but it wasn't as funny by a long shot.Originally posted by falafel View PostI felt like they purposefully tried to model this movie after the Guardians of the Galaxy. Have not seen Thor: Rag yet. I definitely will though. I just disagree as it pertains to Deadpool, that movie was hilarious and sets the standard. Yes it is crude but seriously funny. Both Guardians movies were great. Volume 1 was better because it was a new idea. Volume 2 was a pretty damn good follow up to volume 1, but the expectations were hard to match.Originally posted by Commando View PostI think that was a change for the better. Use of the baby boomer music (which I enjoy) was similar but the humor was more like the director's other films than the original guardians, IMO. Like I said before, if you watch the film Hunt for the Wilderpeople you can see not only a lot of the same supporting actors but also a lot of the same jokes and comedic approaches. In fact, they were so similar it made me wonder if this director is really just a one trick pony. That said, I still found ragnarok to be very amusing.Originally posted by falafel View PostI felt like they purposefully tried to model this movie after the Guardians of the Galaxy. I thought it worked like magic. Comic book movies' premises are silly to begin with, and this thing where we're going to make it all brooding and serious that D.C. is trying to do w Suicide Squad et al. isOriginally posted by creekster View PostUse of the baby boomer music (which I enjoy) was similar but the humor was more like the director's other films than the original guardians, IMO. The way they kept it light made it easier to go along with the plot and a more enjoyable experience in general. That ingredient of putting a cool soundtrack to it that Guardians blazed is another nice touch.

Get this, the Justice League movie is getting bad reviews. I know that's surprising since WB showed a ton of confidence in the movie by forcing critics not to release reviews until the day of its evening release.
And whatever happened to Green Lantern? Does WB think (rightly) that they have one more legitimate shot at getting it right so it doesn't want the the Snyder stench on it?Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I'll probably enjoy it fine. I don't tend to love the movies the reviewers love anyway. They make me think to hard when I just want to go for a fun ride.

Meh.
Wait for it on Netflix or Amazon or redbox or some place like that. If anyone wants more deets, just ask.PLesa excuse the tpyos.

Loving Vincent.
Artistically stunning. ~100 artists painted the entire movie in Van Gogh's style. Most of the story is based on people in Van Gogh's life that he painted. The dialogue was synced to the animation perfectly. Van Gogh loved his colors, and there's plenty of brilliant color in the movie. But I thought the black and white flashback scenes were even more beautifully done. We sat in awe watching how much work went into it.
All the actors had british accents, which I thought should have at least faked a French accent since that's where the movie takes place. But that's a minor quibble. A-minus for me, based pretty much on the audacity of making this kind of film."...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Do you think it's possible for you to post without using words like "hilarious," "absurd," "canard," and "truther"? Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."

Saw Justice League, of course. I feel dumb saying a comic book movie is dumb because ... it's literally based on a comic book, not supposed to be serious fare. But they really can't figure out the tone to make it a smoother viewing experience. Had some comic relief in it via the kid that plays the Flash (probably one of the bright spots in the flick) and Aquaman looked cool, but they really seemed like they had a hard time fusing all the elements together in a non-contrived way. Oh well."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'll make his whole brand go under,"
