I had the same reaction as Northwest. Stories about family always get me. Which is weird because my sister recently mailed me a thank you note for letting them stay at our house for a night on their way to California. Which is another way of saying, we’re not very close. Maybe it’s wishing that we were closer. Who knows.
The 21 minute Frozen short that they crammed between the previews and the movie was pure torture. They need to include some sort of warning for that. My 3 year old was ready to be done 3/4 of the way through that. Fortunately, he settled back down once Coco started. Great story. Beautiful animation. And I learned more than I knew about Dia de los Muertos. So now I have something Wuap and I can talk about.

I haven’t seen Justice League yet but I’m already a big fan of Ray Fisher who played Cyborg in the film. He’s at my cousin’s home today signing posters and other movie memorabilia for his (my cousin’s) son who’s fighting a rare form of cancer. Good point about the Frozen short. I had blocked it from my memory. It was truly awful. Dumb (like really dumb) jokes, pointless story, etc. I am impressed your three year old made it. I didn't. That Coco survives such a horrible intro is a testament to its quality.Originally posted by Dwight Schr-ute View PostHeartless cynic!

We liked Coco a lot and also disliked the Frozen thing immensely. A close friend of our daughters worked on Coco, and she said many on the crew were pretty bummed by the lengthy and tedious short, thinking it diminished the overall experience. It did. A five-minute funny short is good. Twenty minutes of mediocrity is not.
I thought there were a few scenes in Coco that could (and likely will) be worked into lessons on family history.

As others have noted, arrive 30 minutes late to miss the 20 minute "Shoot Me Now" prologue (+ 10 minutes of trailers)Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostHmmm... Looking forward to it now.
No one is addressing the elephant in the room. Pixar is done.
12. Cars 2 ... absolute trash
13. Brave ... skipped
14. Monsters U ... derivative crap / skipped
15. Inside Out ... original and delightful, like the early Pixar stuff
16. The Good Dinosaur ... garbage
17. Finding Dory ... derivative / skipped
18. Cars 3 ... really? / skipped
19. Coco ... forgettable
Next up?
20. Incredibles 2 ... will skip out of respect for original Incredibles, the finest film Pixar has made
21. Toy Story 4 ... jfc! will skip

Misty agree. They have missed quite a bit later. The Good Dinosaur was really bad. Didn’t mind Brave. Inside Out was very good. The others I’ve either tried to watch and fell asleep or got bored so I went and did something else while the kids finished them upOriginally posted by Walter Sobchak View PostAs others have noted, arrive 30 minutes late to miss the 20 minute "Shoot Me Now" prologue (+ 10 minutes of trailers)

I will go see Coco though.

I didn't see Cars 3, Brave, or the Good Dinosaur. I new I would be disappointed so I didn't waste my time. Agree with Inside Out. Finding Dory was a solid 'meh'. The dancing scene at the frat party of Monsters' University was amazing, and saved the movie for me.Originally posted by Walter Sobchak View PostAs others have noted, arrive 30 minutes late to miss the 20 minute "Shoot Me Now" prologue (+ 10 minutes of trailers)

I will see Incredibles 2, because I give the first sequel of every Pixar movie a shot. Did that with Toy Story, and I was rewarded with a movie even better than the original. Not so with Cars 2, of course. And by the same token, I will probably see Toy Story 4. The 3rd movie still had the original Pixar touch.

Wonder. There's a lot a critic could nitpick about this movie, but I left the film feeling better about humanity and re-evaluating the way I view and treat others. With that said, I missed about five minutes, as I asked the manager of the theater to remove a rowdy group of kids who loudly called the main character "douchebag" and "retard". Maybe I should have been more patient, but it was that or escorting them out myself, which probably would have resulted in an assault charge.Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

Seems like the Pixar offerings were great when they were pumping out one every 18-months to 2 years. Once they started coming out with one every year, the quality became pretty hit-or-miss.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

Overall? I say no question. Kind of the classic dark ride but with a bit of a visceral thrill to it- great for kids and entertaining for adults (much like Pixar movies in general). Not my personal favorite, but I esteem it as probably the best-conceived and original ride.Originally posted by falafel View Post
