Crazy story, but I thought the movie was really well done. The subject of the documentary died yesterday:

    • With my wife out of town for a couple of days on business, I am slowly working my way through a few films and tivo'd shows in which she has no interest. One of these was Downfall, about Hitler's final days (and which contains the often lampooned scene where der Fuhrer loses control) I know this is old news, and probably all of you that have any interest in such a thing have seen it already, but just in case I thought I would add my opinion that it is a fantastic film.

Really a great film. I watched it for the second time last year after I finished the Shirer book on Nazi Germany.

        • Patriot's Day. I thought it was very good, but I am a sucker for this kind of movie. They took a few liberties with the story when they didn't really need to, but overall it was reasonably accurate.

          • Kong Skull Island: I was in a rollicking good mood, so this film was a rollicking good time.
I thought it was odd casting when Tom Hiddleston is the hero and Brie Larsen is the female love interest, but it works. If you watch this, stay until after the credits roll.

            • Genius. Was really impressed by Jude Law in this one. Quite a bit different from any role I remember seeing him in before.

              • Got around to watching Martin Scorsese's Silence. I thought it was fantastic, but I recognize that as a former missionary to Japan, this is going to resonate with me in different ways. It is a long movie and there are many scenes that are not comfortable to watch, but it is a story that really sticks with you. Recommended.

I totally failed to stay for the after-credits scene.

                  • Life. Fun film. Not life-changing and very predictable. But if you can go to a film and not think about it too much and just enjoy it then it is worth it.

Special note for Sobchak: It is not like a play. Not at all. You might want to avoid it.

Tip o the hat to Lebowski for the bolding title idea. Makes sense.

I want to see this but neither my wife, nor any of my assorted friends does. I might have to go solo

Life wasn't on my radar. But thanks for the warning.

Watched the John Carney "trilogy" over the weekend: Once, Begin Again, and Sing Street. I think you would like them. Had to rent Once (via FandangoNow), but the latter two are available on Netflix.

I saw Arrival last night, too. It was pretty slow but overall I liked it. I stayed awake for the whole thing!
