  • Inherent Vice. Somewhat of a mixed bag for me. I enjoyed it, but thought it dragged on. Phoenix mumbled throughout the whole movie, which was likely intentional but still annoying. He fits Doc's persona perfectly though.

I read a review that this is Anderson's The Big Lebowski. That seems about right. Go see it but forget about the plot. Just enjoy the ride. I'd give it a B.

I had to google to confirm he made a shot at that distance after the movie. Walter most likely won't like it given that he can just google the story and read it in five minutes rather than watching the two hour movie.

        Edit: Added spoiler...

        Spoiler for Come on Eastwood:
The baby in the one scene is totally fake.

        • Saw Selma last night. Very inspiring and well acted. The guy that played MLK Jr. was amazing. The cinematography was beautiful, but I wasn't enamored by the writing. The real speeches/sermons, of course, were amazing (and well performed), but the non-speech dialogue was a bit stilted (it was as if MLK and his friends were always preaching a sermon in their personal conversations, including in private conversations between King and his wife). The villains (Wallace and, to some extent, LBJ) were a bit cartoonish, but I think that is actually OK in this case. Overall, I would say it is one of my favorites of 2014 (but not at the very top).

Wow, I had never considered that the tragic death of a child could have an impact on a large number of people. Thank goodness this documentary exists.

Are you sure you watched 10 minutes of it?

Why watch more than ten minutes when you can just google the ending?

But I think Walter is on to something here. Let's apply this same style/strategy to some other movie reviews.

                  ************************************************** ***

Gone With the Wind - Some bitchy, needy southern chick loses everything in the Civil War. And the North wins. Duh. I already knew that.

The Shawshank Redemption - Innocent dude goes to jail. Gets out. Meh.

Saving Private Ryan - Cheesy story about some American soldiers trying to find this Ryan dude. Who cares? Save yourself some time and watch Hogan's Heroes on YouTube.

The Sound of Music - Chick with short hair singing in the mountains. If you want to watch totally-not-hawtt women singing, just watch American Idol.

but I think it is wrong. Julie Andrews was, in the day, sort of wholesome hot.
