Fun movie (action scenes are great, hello -- it's Jason Statham) with a plot that's a little disjointed when you realize that there are no true good guys in this movie. Should you see it? Probably a matter of taste, but this is a "guy" movie all the way.Comment

In a fit of insomnia last night I saw 13 Assassins - a remake of a samurai picture from the 60s of the same name (in Japanese). Excellent if very graphically violent film. Perhaps the longest battle sequence I've ever seen - 45 minutes straight - but this is not just a period piece from an awkward time. Intelligently explores the nature of depraved evil as well.Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.Comment

Saw The Pirates! with my daughter last week. It was a fun movie from the claymation geniuses at Aardman. It wasn't as good as Wallace & Gromit or Chicken Run but we still had a great time.Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...

The level of gore/violence just didn't seem that significant to me given the genre. Great great doc that I've put off watching for some time. Everyone RAVED about this at Sundance a couple of years ago. I was duly incensed about the bullshit teacher's union and the American trend of tenure for HS teachers.

I forgot that I went to see this one last week. Really cool look at the profession of Sushi Chef through the lens of the best sushi chef in the world and his small crew of dedicated, long-suffering Sushi apprentices. Pretty inspirational documentary. Quite a prestigious little operation they have-- i'd love to grub there someday.
