Thanks! The photos of the two photos are shots that grumpa took with a small Kodak Brownie camera, and I believe they show a moment when HR drove some officers to the top of a hill to look down on one of the Nazi concentration camps, but I don't recognize the camps. I've visited both Buchenwald and Auschwitz, and it doesn't seem to be either of those. If anyone recognizes them, please let me know.
Also, I'm not sure about the significance of most of the medals and patches. They were looted off of abandoned Nazi uniforms.
A veteran - whether active duty, retired, or national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to, "The United States of America ", for an amount of "up to and including my life - it's an honor."
RF: I was rummaging through a box of postcards in a Vienna flea market once, and since I was outdoors and cold I just bought the entire box for about $5. When i took it home, it contained the papers of a Nazi soldier of low rank, along with all of his test scores and recommendations and medals. I asked around about pricing, and found that nazi memorabilia can fetch good prices in certain quarters, but you don't want to trudge through the the majority of the lowlifes who collect them, it's just not worth it. (I dont think that ebay allows it) Your stuff looks way more interesting than my stuff, though. If you do decide to keep it, keep your story of how you acquired it, otherwise Robin Junior's grandchildren will think funny things about you.
(i apologize to those of you who are perfectly respectable collectors of nazi memorabilia.)
if the nazi memorabilia is from your own family, is that more respectable or less?
I´m fairly certain that Robin isn´t collecting it because he longs for White Supremacy, and clings to a forlorn memory of former "greatness" in these hackneyed symbols.

BTW, Robin, cool photos. I really appreciated the blowups of the old photo, kind of haunting.

Very nice, Space Ghost. How did you blend 3 different exposures?

Sunset picture (attached) was taken this evening out of an attic window in our home (on a tripod) looking across the street. The photo is a blend of three exposures (1/200, 1/50, 1/13) at a focal length of 24mm, ISO 400, f/5.6.
cheers.
WAY better than most HDR images, which come off as surreal and cartoonish. Smart move to keep the levels of the houses low enough to see some detail, but not high enough to confuse the time when the photo was taken. The cut of the treeline across the image is gorgeous.
Speaking of sunset photos, this is one that I took last summer from my front patio. I don't remember the exposure or focal length.

My wife is just starting to get into taking pics with her new camera, a Canon T1i. She has been busy taking pics of her favorite subject...our lovely children. She will kill me if she found out I was posting some of her pics but what are husbands for? Here are a few of her first pics of our baby boy:
