Great northern lights last night. Heard that wouldn't be visible this far south, so went towards Malad. Didn't see anything there so went to the first exit after the pass and got treated to a show.
I found out this morning that people saw them down in Utah Valley. It was still a fun trip with a couple of the kids.

Awesome. I was asleep, I'll be kicking myself for a while that I was paying attention.
I have lots of stars. See the milky way every night from my front lawn.
Yeah, and I'm totally jealous.
I have fond memories as a kid in the summertime at Yosemite, laying on the granite rocks at Tamarack Flat and looking at the stars. The granite soaked up the heat from the sun all day. Laying on warm rock in the cool evening air was pleasant.
Seems like there's a lot more light and other pollution in the Treasure Valley than there was here when I was growing up. Can't see nearly as many stars at night.

Mrs. NWC and I stood on this beach almost a year ago, wondering if we should upend our lives, take a financial hit, and do a very not 'first child' thing by throwing caution into the wind and moving to an island. That night in 2024, I watched the calm waves of the Salish Sea turn various pleasing shades with the setting sun while listening to some sea lions and birds. For both of us, it came down to a 'why the hell not?' decision. Although I still feel some guilt upending my group and hastening a decision of at least one partner to also leave, as of now, I am content with my decision. But now the pressure is on to spend some of my new-found leisure time taking more photos.

That is a beautiful photo. Congrats on moving to a land of beautiful photos! We don't have those here, especially in Puget Sound.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Those are all really great, swampfrog. Beautiful work.

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock
