We had one of those under our bird feeder a few weeks back. I missed it but saw the remnants.

                That's what I'm talking about!

Birds in flight are tough, similar muscle memory to shotguns tracking clay pigeons. You have to be able to find it quickly.

600mm is roughly equivalent to 12x power binoculars. And it auto-focuses. I never use binoculars when I have my camera with me. Which 150-600?

It was a Tamron, but I'm looking at Sigma. Lower price and I love my Sigma 18-300. Still not sure if I can justify it. The guy I borrowed it from uses what amounts to a shooting scope hooked into the camera to follow the birds in flight when using it. Says it works pretty well.

                              • I hauled my camera bag with 2 lenses, filters, and a tripod to Ireland. I only used the tripod at the Cliffs of Moher though. If I go again, I'll still take it and plan for some sunset seascape pics.

I ended up taking over a thousand pics. A lot of them were crap. Here are some of my favorites:

The Burren, just north of the Cliffs of Moher. Who knows how old this stone gate was:

Dingle Peninsula. What can I say, other than spectacular:

Killarney National Park. The greens were even more green here, if that was possible:

Long Range near Moll's Gap. The sky blessed us with beautiful light. Upper Lake:

Right as we were ready to leave to drive back to Killarney I turned around to take more more pic. It was sort of a throwaway, but it turned out to be one of my favorites:
