It seems like every single Amber Alert involves a non-custodial parent taking a kid. And it seems like they're all resolved within a very short period of time without the Amber Alert being of any help. Last night at around 4AM an Amber Alert was issued by South Salt Lake that went to the ENTIRE state. The thing is, the police neglected to actually put any information into the alert. They must have known I forgot to put my phone on silent last night.
While I know that non-custodial parent abductions take place around 1000x more often than a true stranger kidnapping, wasn't the stranger kidnapping the real impetus behind the Amber Alerts? A few years ago, they sent out an Amber Alert when a parent who has partial custody was an hour late turning a kid back over to the other parent. This kind of shit has to stop or people are just going to ignore these things or turn off the notifications, if possible.
