Congratulations! You're now one step closer to freedom!Originally posted by YOhio View PostAbout a month away from my upgrade eligibility date, my phone took a bath yesterday. I dried it out overnight and fired it up this morning. Still broken. So, one of the questions I hear most often is, "Mom, what is wrong with that boy?" The question is not directed to me, of course; it's directed to another parent about my son.
The question itself no longer interests me, but I'm endlessly fascinated by the various ways parents handle the situation. By far the most common approach is not to answer the question at all -- parent either pretends not to hear, or says "hush!," or says "we'll talk about it later." Other parents respond that "he was probably born that way," or "God made him like that."
Well, today I was incredibly impressed with a mom. Her daughter asked, "mom, why is that big kid in a baby stroller?" The mom replied--instinctively and without missing a beat-- "honey, everybody's different."
The answer is brilliant in its simplicity. She managed to answer the question accurately while simultaneously dispelling the notion that the "big kid in the baby stroller" is really so different at all. I thought it was very cool.

It's true. While most of the lawyers I interact with are quite bright, there are one or two that are breathtakingly stupid. I guess the bar exam only measures certain things.Originally posted by thesaint258 View PostSometimes I think that making the bar exam more difficult would be a good thing, but then I realize that stupid people would still pass the test.
