    Well done, sir, well done.

Interspersed between dances were conversations with a BYU football player and Thomas S. Monsen's home teacher.

One of the most unusual Sabbaths, ever, but an excellent day.
That's a really full day. Congratulations to you and Mrs. PAC, as well as to your daughter and new SiL.

A few days ago Clayton Christensen mentioned that after he dies and when he's interviewed by the Almighty, he has a few questions of his own. And one of the first will be "Why didn't you finish Wyoming?" Having returned from a brief visit there, I think that's a great question. The piece along I-80 is perhaps the ugliest piece of terrain I've seen in the U.S. But heading north toward Yellowstone (Star Valley, the Snake River Canyon, Jackson, Teton, etc.) one encounters some of the greatest looking real estate anywhere. Strange. It's like God finished the great part, got to Rock Springs, and said, "You know, I'm beat, let's call it a day."

French President Francois Hollande promises to ban homework

Is this a cunning plan by the newly elected French president to boost his flagging popularity and win the hearts of future voters?

Francois Hollande said this week he wanted to abolish homework as part of wide-ranging reforms to the country’s education system, France 24 reported.

School work should “be done at school, rather than at home" to ensure that kids who don’t have support at home are not left behind, Hollande was quoted by the Agence France-Presse as saying.
Let's see.. France has 30 hour work weeks, retirement at 55, taxes the rich at 75% (anyone making over $150K at 45%), and soon will ban homework so no one gets ahead. It should be interesting to see where France is in 30 years if people like Francois stay in power.

Perspective matters. I had the benefit of 400 miles of Nebraska before I hit Wyoming so I-80 Wyoming wasn't that bad on the drive west. On the drive east, I tried to plan it so I drove Nebraska at night after leaving scenic Wyoming.

I guess that's one way to look at it. But the southern half of Wyoming is still the ugliest place I've lived in. Just bleak, desolate, and foul. And winter's even worse!

                              Sad day for Texans...

Big Tex, the Texas State Fair icon, destroyed by fire

[...] firefighters were alerted to the blaze by an unusual report from a Dallas Fire-Rescue dispatcher:

"Got a rather tall cowboy with all his clothes burned off," the dispatcher said over the radio, according to the newspaper.
