  • I get that civilian drones have some tremendous commercial uses, but every electronics store and catalog I've looked at has dozens of models for the private consumer. Are these cheap drones, which seem very faddish, the equivalent of an '80s CB radio?

      • LOL @ PAC. Always late to the party. CBs (Smokey and the Bandit, BJ and the Bear, CHIPS, etc) were the 70's, Walkmans were the 80s. My HS baseball coach was a HAM radio operator. His house had so many antennas it looked like it could be the base for War Games. Supposedly he could sit in his den, in the backwoods of OR and talk to people all over the world. Who would want to waste their time sitting around talking to anonymous strangers? What a looser.

WarGames was all online using modems and dial-up connectivity. No antennas.

Think of it as your reward for not getting let go for duplication of job function after the company merger.

Btw, in terms of random thoughts, why are EE considered at the pinnacle of engineering, followed by Chem E, Mech E with Civil E and Industrial Engineering carrying up the rear in terms of prestige?

Hey, breaker breaker, good buddy, once I finished my education, the ensuing years have been pretty much a blur; I can't distinguish much between the decades. Which brings up another random thought. Why is it I can remember so much on a year-by-year, even month-by-month. basis throughout high school, college and grad school, but after that everything just runs together.

                      • When someone forgets that you paid them back and asks you for the money again, and you remind them that they made a Better Off Dead joke about their literal $2 owed to them when you gave them the money, and they still don't remember, it's easier to just give them the money again rather than arguing about it.

Funny. I won a fantasy football league in medical school and the guy running the league wouldn't pay me, said I had never given him money. I paid him by check (weird I know -- you'd think he would remember the annoyance of having to cash/deposit a check) and had to print off a picture of it to get my money.

                          • The Navy's new ZUmwault Class Destroyer begins sea trials. This ship looks like something from a sci fi movie. Any guess as to the name of its captain?
