What are you looking for? A link to my opinion? It's a handful of posts above.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

My opinion? Thanks for asking - I'd say it's more. It's all that and amazing views in a city that's a lot cooler than it used to be.
          Good medical school? Nah.

Truth be told, if I had been accepted to Utah's medical school, I would have gone. My scores were better than their average, but I was average (white RM who speaks a second language and did no research). i didn't get accepted and went elsewhere.

Some of the best schools are commuter schools. I think this whole thread is the "pick on SU" thread.
Your little brother is 6'3", 200 lbs of pure muscle and would kick your fat ass with one punch.

I always thought commuter school referenced not just the fact that there is little on campus housing requiring little of the college experience, but also that most of the enrollment consisted of locals. In other words, it's not a destination school that attracts many from out of state.

ftr: I care about how BYU stacks up against Utah in football and basketball. I really couldn't care less how BYU stacks up against Utah in academics. I didn't attend Utah and how good they are in academics doesn't relate to me at all. I do care about BYU's academic reputation, but only because that's where my degree's from. If it wasn't for that, I'd be fine if BYU had terrible academic reputation as long as they won FB and BB games.

I feel much the same way.

Take away the church affiliation and its related $20k+ per year underwriting of tuition, and byu would probably be a regional phenomenon too.

that was just obtuse, not esoteric

I'm a latecomer to this thread. Why is this question even being asked?

                          Probably. But it's not.

FTR, most state schools with Utah's selectivity are the same.

Because it is fun to rile up Ute fans with deep-seated inferiority complexes.

I turned down a scholarship from BYU.
