Why the disdain for I-84? Don't let old gregg's Boise jealousy deter you from driving through the Treasure Valley.

      • We are having some historic weather here in the Boise area. They started measuring standing snow back in 1940. Broke the record a couple days ago. More snow forecasted to start in an hour or so and continue through tomorrow. We had three consecutive snow days this week from the school district - a first. And we just got word that the Area Presidency has cancelled church services for tomorrow - first time I've seen that around here.

We were supposed to get 3 to 5 inches here last night, and really, if we had gotten 1, it would have been enough to cancel church tomorrow. Instead, we got a trace, with no accumulation on the roads, so church will likely be on tomorrow. Pretty peeved at the weatherman right now.

Don't keep us in suspense. How deep is it?

              • We only have 6-8 inches on the ground, but it we haven't seen the mercury rise above 0 at our house since 7:00 Monday night. Wednesday night was the worst, when we had wind with a wind chill down to -60. Even froze a water line in my house. Doesn't take much wind at -30. This week has been hell. -12 at my house as we speak.

                • They are expecting 20 ft over the next week in Mammoth. Church is not cancelled.

                  • Jeff - probably won't seem like much to others, but it's a lot for here. I think they said the record-breaking snow level here in the valley was 15.5 inches.

Hope the neighbor doesn't need to go anywhere soon:

The kids have excavated snow caves on either side of the driveway.

an inch and a half here. Still enough time to shovel the walks, however, before church

We got snow in the Big D... If they have church tomorrow I'm not going.

                            Edit: Pics of our snow

                              • We were supposed to get blasted with the same storm creekster mentioned. Less than an inch of precipitation so far. But more importantly we picked up about 2 inches of snow - a rarity in these parts. Church is not cancelled tomorrow but we did cancel a youth temple trip today.
