    • Got another couple of inches of snow today before the freezing rain started in. I shoveled the driveway as soon as I noticed the switch to the rain, hoping the rain wouldn't freeze if the snow was gone. No such luck. It's basically just an ice rink.

Just when I was becoming a believer. I mean temperatures were in the teens and now it is raining today. That is for sure climate change.

              She is a nut.

And if you can't figure out something as simple as how to post a link, you might want to stop opining on technology and science.

I could figure it out, but it isn't high on my priority list. I don't have a lot of time left and I have to use it wisely.

                • School was cancelled again today - fourth consecutive snow day. They are planning to make up the snow days on MLKJ Day and President's Day. The roads this morning, like my driveway, were just pure ice. They have cleared up a lot as it's warmed up a bit and the rain has continued to fall. I dredged out the gutter from my house to the sewer drainage a few houses down so that the water would have somewhere to go. Then I cleared the ice off my driveway and the sidewalk. The sidewalks on the other side of the street are a mess - two or three inches of standing water. By the time I left for the office late this afternoon, part of my driveway was not only ice-free but also dry.

More snow/freezing rain in the forecast for tonight through Wednesday.

Fifth day in a row. This is getting ridiculous. And I had told my kids yesterday that there was no way it would get canceled again.

                    • We just used up our last snow day in Central Oregon today. But there's still a winter storm warning for the rest of the day, with up to a foot of new snow predicted for tonight. If that much falls, my kids will be paying for a makeup day sometime in the future.

I thought the same thing. Couple of more inches of snow last night with more rain today.

                        • School is finally back in session today. The snow that was forecast for overnight ended up just being rain. And the temps have stayed just above freezing. So the consecutive snow day record will end at 5.

My two older kids were very bummed to be heading back to school. One of those two was sick last Tuesday, the single day last week that school was held, so the last day she attended was Dec. 16!

My kindergartner daughter was sad for each day that it was canceled. She's been coughing a ton and my wife might decide to keep her home another day, which neither of them will be happy about.

Thank you for holding her out. My schoolteacher wife picked up something from sick school kids and was sick over the entire Christmas break, and still isn't back up to speed.

                              • 63 degrees and party cloudy in Manhattan. Slight breeze which feels really nice. The city is in such a good mood; it's like everyone just got released from prison. My wife left to take the kids to the park 4 hours ago.
