Had a very close call on my commute to work. A car lost control going about 60 mph in the HOV lane while all the other lanes were going about 20 mph or less. It was my day to drive kids to early morning seminary and the snow was just dusting and not sticking to the pavement at 6:00 am. So I thought the drive into work wouldn't be a problem a couple of hours later. But the stuff started packing down and there must have been some water left over from yesterday's rain that froze because there are patches of black ice under the freshly packed snow. A lot of native Texans still don't know how to drive in this stuff. Didn't help that there seems to have been no sand put on the roads. It is true. Went to a small restaurant for breakfast, 4 of us at the table and we ordered very small, light meals. I might even call them snacks. Muffins, fruit, yogurt. They verbally tell us it is 18 dollars (they except US currency for the most part). We leave the money on the table and leave. They head back and the owner of the restaurant calls the police telling the police they skipped out on the check the previous morning. The police show up and after some back and forth the owner tells the police they only paid $18 when the bill was $80!
Long story short they end up paying the $80 otherwise they were threatening them with jail time.
Similar thing happened when we tried to go on a zip line. Again signs everywhere saying $50, they find out we are Americans and they are telling us the sign is missing a "0" and it is $500.
