  • Speaking as a guy who just spent two full days camping in the Utah heat wave, y'all can stop complaining. Houston's normal summer is way worse than anything we've seen so far - and the pre heat wave Houston weather that we left from definitely was. Ask my kids, who weren't phased at all.

Plus you still kick our ass on nature. Damn I love this place (I'm eating lunch at Bryce right now).
Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

    • Fall can really be beautiful around here but this last week or two as been terrible. Wind, rain and even some snow up high. It's been really tough to get out and ride or golf. I'm getting cabin fever already and it's still September.

      • Good hell its cold. I've worked late the last 2 nights and didn't get to shovel my north facing driveway. Its an ice sheet two inches thick right now.

          • I took out the trash and the lids were frozen shut. It feels like it is negative degrees out there right now. Holy smokes.

              Same.

I am doing some upgrades to my boat so I've had it at home instead of in storage. I got all the seats out to have the vinyl redone just before the storm hit. It is winterized but I put two portable heaters controlled by thermostats in to keep things warm anyway. I then put the cover on and followed it with a few tarps. It's going to have to sit that way until it's safe to haul it up to storage. Total PITA.

              • Per my car, it was 29 degrees when I came home two hours ago, and the temps continue to fall. Balmy compared to Utah, I guess, but rather freakish for these parts.

                • 32 during my run home tonight. Cold as shit. There's talk of lowest temps in 15 years coming up this weekend.

                        • 9 this morning here in North Idaho. Still trying to figure out why we're here...

Kids are going to want to ski tomorrow and it's supposed to be 3 at Schweitzer. Any recommendations on how to do this safely or do we just say no?

                          • Freezing rain in Dallas. Municipalities and people are not well equipped for this weather. While taking the dog for its morning walk, saw a neighbor scraping his car. He was still going at it when I finished my walk so I retreived my ice scraper from my car and gave him a hand. The reason it was taking so long was he was trying to scrape the ice from his windshield with a spatula and without wearing gloves. Leaves are still on most of the trees and they are getting weighed down by several inches of ice. Lots of branches are snapping. Going to be a lot of clean up once this weather clears in a few days.

Another reason I'll never own a dog. You have to walk him in weather like that.

Stupid ice storm took out my cable and internet. The scary thing is idiots that have little experience in weather like this. I just saw a guy in a jeep take a curve going way too fast. I am guessing the cost of the new rim and alignment job will help him remember he needs to slow down.
