That's all I know. Alta didn't even have a fight song the first two years the school was opened. They finally got around to having it when a new band teacher - who was a hippie type grad from Cal - decided that Alta should use the Bears fight song."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

In which part of Sandy did you grow up?

My cousin went to Alta and he had a bunch of friends that lived in Pepperwood and I became pretty good friends with some of them. They all graduated in 1995 (like me, but they were in Utah).Originally posted by SuperGabers View PostMy little nickname for falafel. We go way back...

Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I dated a girl who went to Brighton. Lets just say that I saw stuff at some of those Brighton High School parties that I'd never seen in three solid years of non-LDS party-going where I grew-up (in upstate NY).Originally posted by thesaint258 View PostYes there is. There's a reason I started college two weeks after graduation, and the words "Alta High School" pretty much explain it.

Not having attended Skyline, I can't say whether or not remembering part of the fight song is noteworthy. I'll just say you may or may not deserve credit.Originally posted by beelzebabette View PostCheer and sing together we're from Skyline

"Dadadadadaada dada, Skyline
Dadadada dadaduhda sky!"
So, yes, you should be impressed (with the sophomore history teacher who made us all learn all the words).

At least there was singing. No one at Alta even bothered, which made it annoying to have to play the stupid thing. Well, that and the song itself was annoying.Originally posted by beelzebabette View PostWhat you typically heard in the football stands was

I actually know quite a bit of the Skyline song due to the fact that my FIL was a cheerleader at Skyline back in the day and occasionally busts it out. I also know the Olympus song (where my wife went). I have no idea what my own high school fight song is.Originally posted by beelzebabette View PostWhat you typically heard in the football stands was

Back in my day there were no homes east of Pepperwood. Just the mountains. We grew up fairly close - I was just west of Pepperwood. The wall there was the back fence of my parents home."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

How did you close that deal Tick? Did it involve a deep conversation in the sauna followed by horseback riding with a picnic in the canyon?Originally posted by The_Tick View PostAnd since she didn't close the deal on getting DT back to church, after I got my mission call they asked me to whip him into shape.
