I stared at that picture for several minutes thinking "There is no way that is the UK", but also not getting a feeling of any US city. I went through Boston, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and a couple of others before deciding that 75% of US pictures are in New York so let's hops this is in some weird part of Brooklyn I haven't seen or something. Australia for some reason never even entered my mind.
    Same here

My rule that I learned is that if the license plate starts with "W", it is in Vienna (Wien)

I'm feeling like the answer to the thread question is no, I do not have historical (or geographical) chops.

1)8568 pts - 4 yrs off - 231.6 km - maybe I would have guessed correctly if we had made it to Florence as part of our Eurotrip last spring. Should have stuck with the default 1962.

2)7500 pts - 8 yrs off - 9.1 m - Went with 1987 thinking it was just before the crash

3)7849 pts - 5 yrs off - 551.1 km - the partial city names on the signs (-zburg, -inz, etc.) made me think Germany and I found some ciites near Frankfurt that mostly fit. Should have stuck with the default 1962.

    42,320 - A little tougher today.

    1)
    6106 pts
9 yrs off - 893.8 km -- Wasn't sure at all on this one. Some of the cars looked like VW bugs, so I went along the Rheine in Dresden. I was thinking the upside-down sign might have been German with a word ending in "IG". The statue writing looked like it ended in "ER" as well which could be a Romantic or Germanic language.

    2)
    8899 pts
5 yrs off - 56.5 m -- Picked too late. I thought he looked pretty old in the picture.

    3)
    8849 pts
5 yrs off - 1.9 km -- Haven't we seen the Ritter Cafe before on here?

    4)
    8685 pts
    2 yrs off - 614.9 km -- I went with Edinburgh.

    5)
    9781 pts
2 yrs off - 941.0 m -- Looked like previous Sydney pictures to me.

    2) 9999 pts
0 yrs off- 58.7 m - I think that is my first 9999. Apparently 50m is the threshhold for 5000

    3) 9300 pts
4 yrs off- 36.5 m - Would have been closer if I just left the default 1962 time

    4) 8998 pts
1 yrs off- 451.7 km - Picked Ireland

    5) 8897 pts
    5 yrs off- 140.6 m - See 3 above.

    5) 7495 pts 8 yrs off - 272.7 m - just south of my old stomping grounds. I went to the Hanau Ward when stationed over there and Hanau had the best PX within an hour's drive of my place. I didn't even think about the nuke sign, just figured grafiti

44,637 -- 4 pretty good guesses and one stinker.

    1)
    9950 pts
    1 yrs off - 39.9 m

    2)
    9854 pts
1 yrs off - 4.8 km -- Figured it was Tokyo. Based the date on the fashion, signage and prices.

    3)
    9938 pts
1 yrs off - 588.8 m -- Picked the wrong bridge but was still pretty close.

    4)
    4962 pts
1 yrs off - 6391.6 km -- This one had me all over. Catholic decorations. Was that Queen Victoria or Queen Elisabeth over the door? (No it wasn't). I couldn't really make anything of the writing, but it did look Germanic. I thought the patience might be Indian, so ignoring all the other clues, I went with India. I should have thought of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his mustache. At least I was close on the year.

    5)
    9933 pts
1 yrs off - 837.5 m -- I was thinking Chernobyl and thought it was 87. Totally lucked out picking the right town. Decided to pick an area where several cities ended in Hausen.
