For the second year in a row my son has broken a snowboard binding. I've ridden most winters for the past 30 year and have never faced this issue, but he's uniquely built to stress test sports equipment. The break is a structural fracture at the baseplate/highback junction so we'll have to replace instead of repair. Super bummed because they're Nidecker Supermatic step-ins.

But out of curiosity I uploaded an image to Gemini to get feedback on a repair. It was amazing. It gave me a step-by-step guide on how to repair with JB Weld, epoxy, and carbon fiber. I'm going to do it for fun and maybe ride it a few times.

The laugh sound kind of fake, but this is amazing. Zero delay.

I also read that NVIDIA is burning this on a chip. Voice recognition burns tokens like crazy, but with a dedicated chip the entire process will be super cheap and instantaneous.

That's incredible, JL. It's probably a good time to have a chat with your parents/kids/spouse about AI safety. Scammers are early adopters and have the ability to create a digital twin of pretty much anyone and use it to manipulate/extort/scam others. This chip makes it essentially free to clone anyone's voice. I've seen some people recommend establishing a code word or some other protocol to confirm identity.
