  • Nice job, Timbo. That is a very cool accomplishment.

I would suggest making the chicken leg larger in your logo, though.

You were right, Coach. The reason I couldn't see the stream icon is because I was at work at not near my AppleTV devices. Also, the picture quality is very good when you have a good wifi connection.

I just cancelled my Netflix streaming account because of this app. I buy Amazon Prime just for the shipping, so this is a nice bonus. No need to have both accounts as the libraries are fairly similar.

Is this true? One of the primary complaints i've heard about Prime is that they don't have enough content (the same thing we used to hear about Netflix streaming 3 years ago). I imagine that is constantly improving, but I have a tough time believing they have anywhere close to the content that Netflix has.

Recent deal with EPIX closed the gap substantially.

            • Here is a new event-centric social networking app from a few LDS guys in LV. I don't think it's nearly as helpful as the video makes it out to be, but it certainly could be helpful in some instances. Also, stupid name. Sounds too much like Tabasco.

              • My second app is currently in review and should be available on the app store by this time next week. It's a simple pros and cons list tool called Gherkin. Once it's up in the app store I'll post a link to it, but for now you can see some screen shots here:

                http://www.boundn.com/gherkin

This time I'll give anyone on CUF a free copy in exchange for a tweet, Facebook post, or commitment to show it to at least 5 people in person. Let me know if you're interested.

OK, wait a minute. I tried streaming via Airplay to my AppleTV tonight and I got audio only. I could have sworn that I tried this before, but I must have just looked at the list of airplay devices. I just did a google search and the Amazon app does not support streaming via Airplay. Grrr...

So, Coach, were you really streaming or just imagining it like I did?

                      • I am digging "A Clockwork Brain". Free App that is a lot of fun on its own, but is even better with a $2.99 in app purchase. It's a lot like lumosity, if you've ever tried their brain training, but much better. The graphics on this app are kind of fun too. It's done in that steam-punk style (someone at work taught me that's what it's called anyway) and looks really nice.

As for apps, I assume you are talking iPhone since you are in this thread. I have tested most of them. I think the best free option is Waze. The interface is nice and simple and it includes voice directions. The main problem with Waze is that the maps are not accurate. MapQuest is free and it is not bad, but no voice directions. I think the best option is MotionX GPS Drive. I bought it for ~$2.99. They charge a recurring fee for voice guidance (common for the higher-end nav apps), but they have a sale going now where you can get one year of guidance for $10. That should get you to IOS 6 where I strongly suspect that Apple will provide an integrated navigation app. GPS Drive has an excellent interface and seems to work well.

If you are quite fond of the Garmin interface, you can buy the iPhone version for $40. From what I understand, it is the very same software used in their devices so it would be what you are used to using. Pricey app, but much cheaper than buying a new Garmin device.
I have been using Waze around in Silicon Valley this week and the maps don't seem that inaccurate. Of course, the company that created this app has an office in Palo Alto so maybe that is the reason. The crowd sourcing feature is nice for avoiding traffic, police traps, and such. I assume as more people use it this will get even better.

I need something very intuitive because in my old age I don't have the time or patience to learn something that takes a lot of playing with to get used to.

i prefer a onenote file with multiple sections saved in a dropbox file. evernote is pretty cool, but it lacks a lot of the very, very good features onenote has.
