And the GSIII feels like a TV remote for old people.
I saw an extra large calculator at CVS yesterday that was designed to look like an iPad.

Samsung is releasing different versions of that iPhone5 commercial now. It is a very funny campaign and I hope they do more. I like the guy who explains that the headphone jack is going to be on the bottom and then has his mind "blown." Also, the girl that says that the cord is "all digital" and admits that she doesn't even know what that means.
The one thing I still don't get it the playlist exchange. They should have had them exchange something else. Exchanging a playlist is only useful if you have the exact same music on your device and it is encoded with the exact same ID tags.

I am not sure it was a music playlist like Spotify or something. When the two guys part one says I will see you at the studio. So maybe it was just a text file. The mind blown guy is my favorite.

Before I got to your second paragraph, I was planning on replying and saying that I agreed that the commercials were cool, except for the bumping playlist feature. Actually, I guess I am still planning on replying and saying that.
Anyway, yes, I don't get it. I am actually considering switching over to an S3, but part of my brain says "If that is a big selling point, I guess there aren't a huge number of advantages." Maybe I am missing something, though.

Maybe you should ask mpfunk what other awesome things NFC can do, since he is the one continually mocking apple for still not having it.

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

I always thought that the "see you at the studio" part was to let you know that they were two cool, hip dudes, unlike the parents that are waiting in line. Maybe I am wrong, though.

The playlist thing is a pretty silly thing to tout as a feature. There are some interesting things with the NFC transfers though.

I think Funk and I would just talk past each other on this one. I have never once had a problem with the adaptors, and have never bought one (in my experience they give you a free one whenever you buy a phone or an ipod, so we have like a dozen of the things around the house), so I think we just have different world-views.
Here are some pictures of actual Galaxy Note users
The Galaxy Note is too big. I know people with them and they love it though. To each their own. A co-worker has one and he uses a blue tooth headset to make calls. But I think those are silly as well.

There isn't a lot of implementation with NFC yet, but there will be in the next 2 years. The problem is that you are committing to a phone for 2-years that lacks useful technology (like buying a 4S without LTE).
As for what is useful now, the photo sharing with NFC is actually really nice. TecTiles are also a really interesting concept, but just cost too much right now. You can use NFC for payments at parking meters in SLC and I'm guessing this option is available elsewhere.

Didn't you swap mixtapes with all your buddies when you were in high school? Not really? Yeah me neither.
Anyway, they're just trying to appeal to lame hipsters.
But from what I can gather the same feature that allows someone to swap playlists also enables someone to pay at enabled cash registers with their phones and also they can pass along pictures and documents. That would come in handy.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Everyone got $10 with Galaxy S3 at launch to use. I used my S3 to put $10 worth of gas in my car at the pump that had a PayPass tag.

I think there could be, as well. Would have been cool to transfer something practical. There is another commercial for the S3 (I think) that shows someone snapping phone pics and then everyone around him immediately has the same pic on their phone. That seems like a cooler display of that technology.
All of these smart phone manufacturers are starting to get too clever for their own good. How much money went into Siri when they could have dumped it all into improving battery life or something that would benefit everyone. Just as very few people will trade playlists, I don't think I know anyone that uses Siri other than to show people Siri. I guess John Malkovich uses Siri when he is feeling too lazy to track down portuguese sausage.
